AK,

Do you put together a hunt for anyone or are these guys friends of yours? If it's a hunt you put together, do you guide the hunt? Just curious, it may be something I'd look into doing in the future. Although I'm kinda the do it yourself type, I've never hunted bear or been to that part of the country, so I'd like to have a quality experience, and it sounds like you guys are enjoying just that each spring. Although the balls already been set in motion on our spring bear trip, I'd really be interested in what you offer in a hunt. PM me with the details if you'd like. I appreciate your help.

JOHN DEER, SENT YOU A PM
SHORT ANSWER IS:
NO I'M NOT A GUIDE .......NOT FOR PROFIT ANYWAY ....... I TAKE LOTS OF FRIENDS OUT. MY WIFE ALWAYS SAYS I SHOULD GET MY GUIDE LICENSE AND MAKE MONEY AT IT. TOO MUCH COST AND HASSLE TO IT. IT WOULD TAKE AWAY FROM MY HUNTS.

Nimrod is certainly not a guide. The guy made me pack a huge tent up the mountain on our goat hunt, what guide do you know that makes the hunter pack gear up a mountain like that. Okay, so it was only a small three man tent, but after a couple of hours it felt like a big Cabela's wall tent.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

No, Nimrod is NOT a guide, but he always seems to kill his share, and he always gives the young guys that go out with him a real run for their money! I understand he walks the legs right off them!

Merry Christmas everyone and best of luck with the hunting and fishing in 2005!!

i was wondering if any of you guys have your float plane rating and do much flying up there. I am in the air force, a pilot and am going to be moving to Anchorage in april. I am going to get my float plane rating and just wondering what it is like and if any outfitters will hire out for me to fly on the weekend to make some extra cash or anything like that. Also could use some advice on the hunting and fishing around Anchorage and where to start. Thanks.

DEWALTS- WELCOME TO THE BOARD. I'M RETIRED AF. I THROW MY MONEY INTO BOATS NOT PLANES. I HAVE A FRIEND THAT IS AN OTTER PILOT UP AT WORK. HE WORKS WEEK ON WEEK OFF. HE FLYS FOR RUST'S AIR SERVICE OUT OF ANCHORAGE IN THE SUMMER DURING HIS OFF WEEK I'M SURE THERE ARE OTHERS THAT WOULD NEED FILL IN PILOTS AS WELL. OUR COMPANY EVEN USES FILL IN PILOTS ON THE OTTER AND CASA BUT THAT IS A WEEK AT A TIME NORMALLY NOT JUST WEEK ENDS.
WHERE ARE YOU CURRENTLY?
ARE YOU A BOWHUNTER?
LATER PAT

AK NIMROD

Thanks for the info. I am currently at Little Rock, AFB. I am going through my C-130 training here. I am also trying to figure out this whitetail hunting. I grew up in Colorado so it is new to me. I can't wait to get back to the mountains, cold, and see some snow. that probably sounds weird to most. I am a bowhunter, just getting back into it since I have been so busy with school and this flying stuff. I just bought the new Jennings CK3.4R and love the thing. I am a big time hunter and fisherman. I may not always know what I am doing but I try. Maybe when I get to AK I can look you up for some pointers.
