Had to run an errand, just happened to be near a hardware store to pick up some super glue and epoxy
I picked up an 8-32 tap for $3. Just tried to run it through each insert, and lo and behold, it hangs up in each and every one. I' ve only got my hands, so I haven' t re-tapped the threads, which I hope is entirely possible as I am far far away from new inserts, distance wise.
Should I be able to re-tap these things, or should I start the process to get new. If I go new, what' s the guarantee they won' t have the same fricking problem?
For what it' s worth, I' ve only used the rocket heads in one of these inserts, so I can' t blame them... I just think they were bad to begin with.

Since you' ve already got the tap, go ahead and try to retap the things. Wet the tap with a little oil and run it down the threads. If you' ve got a tap handle, that would be great. Or just use a little wrench or pliers to get you through the hard part.
Really, at this point you' ve got nothing to lose.

If you set up one of those automatic screw machines to make inserts and the operator doesn' t pay attention as it' s running, a tap can break off and the machine will run off a couple hundred inserts without threads. And a few of them can slide through the QC process. It' s smart to check the inserts out before installing them in your arrows. Especially if you' re doing a permanent install with epoxy.

Ok, tapped ' em all (wish I could say that after the night club I was in over the weekend... Yikes! ).
They will now readily accept anything I throw at them. Thanks for all the help.
