Default A Loud General?

I shot a General back in December and loved it but decided to go with a DXT. Last week I decided to go back and buy the General just to have two kick butt bows.

I get it home and shoot it and it seemed to have alot more vibration and noise than I originally remembered. I took it back to the shop the next morning for them to look over and they couldn't find anything wrong with it just by looking. They said that I could bring it back in when they got another General in stock so I could compare the two, but that won't beuntil next week.

I was able to get most of the shock out of the bow by tinkering with different stablizers, but the noise is still there.

All the screws have been checked for tightness. I checked for vane interference and can't find any problems there. I took off the QAD dropaway b/c it was hitting the shelf, then I put ona fullcontainment rest I had laying aroundand it got better. I think the short stop is making the noise b/c it has alot of contact with the string at rest but I can't adjust it in anymore.

The noise is a weird "plink" sound, even my wife noticed it right off. I'd sure appreciate some help.

1. Make sure your modules are ALL seated and tight. For some reason this bow will kick mod screws loose pretty easily? If you have the right draw length mods in I suggest blue loc-tite for the mod screws.

2. Check your cam spacers top and bottom. An fairly early run of bows went out with an out of spec set of limb tip caps which caused a conflict with the correct diameter spacers.
There is nothing structurally or functionally wrong with these bows other than that limb cap needs a slightly thicker spacer to make up for the difference in specs.
In other words you could have a couple loose thin spacers on one side of your cam. This will be easy to visually check. If you can see axle showing through or can spin or move the spacers with your fingernail that's most likely where your noise is coming from. (Plink the cam edge with your finger and see if you can hear a buzz)
It would be a 5 minute fix for your dealer to set it up with the correct thickness spacer set.

Matt, I'll be darned if you didn't hit the nail on the head - sure enough the spacer especially on the top cam is too thin and spins freely. Now I'm headed off to the pro shop, can they take the correct spacer off another model like an Airborne to make it work or will they have to order it from BT?

They might have them in stock in a parts kit......if not they can get it from Bowtech for sure.
Those Delrin spacers are pretty common items in a pro-shop. I don't know the correct thickness he'll need but it can be eyeballed pretty easily. Basically you just need one that will fill that gap up better than the thin one.
It's an honest 5 minute fix, just press it, pop th eaxle out to the point where the spacer can be removed, slide a thicker one in and psuh the axle back into place. Done deal, shouldn't change a thing on your bow except the buzz.

If he doesn't have them in stock or that he can pirate from another bow, Bowtech will absolutely send some out to him. All he needs to do is tell them he needs a couple thicker spacers to replace the undersized ones. If you have to wait, in the meantime just keep shooting and enjoying the bow, this isn't something that will cause you to have to put it away until it's fixed.

IF he doesn't have any in stock in his spare parts he'll have to contact Bowtech anyway if he takes a set off another model because he'll need to replace those.
