Wax build-up on Cams
#11
Thanks Arthur , i do give it plenty of wax and then rub it in with my fingers to warm it up .( That sounds wierd , but you know where i'm coming from ).
The only reason i am replcing the string is , its been on for over 18 months . The guy i bought it off ,used the bow quite often and i don't wanna take any risk on that thing snapping .
As for speed .... if i'm hitting the target in the middle at 25yds , i'm happy .

Bohning makes a new string conditioner and wax. It's called Accelerator wax. You get virtually no build up. It penetrates the string fibers to help protect the string internally as well.
If you're replacing a string/cables, I would highly recommend it.
Winners Choice also makes a string cleaner and conditioner. The volume of string conditioner is probably 5 or 10 times more than the Bohning. It looks like a small deoderant canister and is fantastic. It's a bit dry, and feels like silicone and works easily into the string with little friction.
I like the WC better than the Bohning. The string cleaner is good as well for removing debris and old conditioner.
Someone mentioned in an earlier post that debris can't get into the string, however it does. The wax actually holds the debris and will cause premature wear especially in the serving area that wraps around your cams and more so in the cable slide.

A piece of deer hide or thin leather works great for melting that wax into your string. Wax your bow as you normally would and then fold the deer hide around the string and go back and forth.
I just got some of the Xcellerator Wax Tradtech is talking about with my new serving kit. It really is a great product.
