223 winchester super short mag
i have changed my mind again i have decided to get a winchester super shadow 223 wssm instead of a regular 223 dou u think this gun would work great on coyotes and ive been doing research on it to and they made a 64 grain bullet for it for deer do u think that this gun would also work on deer pretty good ~!!~Hunting Is My Life~!!~

It should work great on coyotes. A .22 caliber bullet (.223, 22-250, etc) will kill deer, but it's not ideal. For deer, I would recommend a .243, 25-06, .270, or the new versions of these calibers in WSM and WSSM. These calibers pack plenty of punch for deer, shoot relatively flat, and still have manageable recoil.

I don't really see a point in the .223 WSSM. Not much to gain considering the rifle is only 1/2" shorter than the .223 Rem. version, and weighs maybe 4 oz less, and only has three factory loads available, plus there is the limit in magazine capacity, where the Rem has a mag cap of 4, the WSSS is only 2. I would get it chambered in .22-250 and call it good. Also, I don't know about the .22 cals for deer either. Maybe with a good handload of a Barnes X or Nosler Partition.

If you are set on the 223 WSSM, don't let people discourage you from using it on deer. 22 caliber work fine if you use the right bullet and place it in the right spot. I know several people sho have used 22-250's for deer and have never had one go farther than 50 yards. I don't reccomend it for everyone though. You have to be a good shot. My point is that the cartridge is very capable.
