If you are set on the 223 WSSM, don't let people discourage you from using it on deer. 22 caliber work fine if you use the right bullet and place it in the right spot. I know several people sho have used 22-250's for deer and have never had one go farther than 50 yards. I don't reccomend it for everyone though. You have to be a good shot. My point is that the cartridge is very capable.
