I am not sure if there is a way to backtrack to find out what species of critter it came from, but if I remember correctly, the worst tasting meet could reliably be found in my school cafeteria. (joking)

RE: worst tasting meat
I cannot believe somebody said squirrel! That is one of the best!
To be honest I like pretty much any kind of meat, but the funny thing is I probably like one of America's favorites the least - White meat chicken. I love dark meat chicken, and white isn't bad, but if I had to say my least favorite meat, I'd have to say white meat chicken. Luckily, even my least favorite is alright!
Years back my dad killed and barbecued an armadillo. He said it was really good and that if they weren't so hard to clean, he'd do it again. He said a guy at work begged and begged for a piece of it one day, not knowing it was an armadillo. He just thought it was bbq of some common kind. My dad kept telling him that he wouldn't want any, but finally let him have some, then told him what it was!
My granddad will tell you he likes to eat a young coon.
