RE: Rem 700 Mountian LSS Accuracy?

I once owned one (a second year production with the smooth bolt knob) in .280rem. It shot 1 1/4" groups straight out of the box with 140gr core-lokts. I was curious what free floating would do so I...

RE: What barrel length for longbeards?

For turkeys as short as you prefer will do. I currently have a 26" on my ithaca and if I were to order another for turkey it would probably be a 22" or 24". You do not lose velocity with shorter...

RE: Question.

No, you do not have to have hounds or curs for that matter. Any dog that will tree sufficently and bark enough to let you know he is treed will do. That said many of us prefer a certain style of dog....

RE: coon dogs?

Seriously, it depends on what you want in a dog and your prefered style of hunting. You do not mention whether you want hounds or curs, both are quite capable but very diferrent in style of hunting....

RE: Crates?

Dog boxes at all times. The hounds are tought to load up from the time they are big enough to jump that high. Now all I have to do is open the door and they jump straight into the box. They just...

RE: TROUBLE KEEPING DOG AROUND PROPERTY

If the dog is worth keeping kennel it or chain it. I use both. The kids yard dog runs loose as well as the wife's lap dog. We live in an area where they can. But my coon hounds are NEVER loose except...

RE: rem. Straight riffled choke turkey tube?

Try contacting Briley. I have a Briley straight rifled turkey trauma choke tube in my 2 3/4" 12ga Ithaca M37. It turned this gun into a true 40 yard gun with remington 1 5/8oz #5. The previous best...

RE: Do you like/use push-button calls?

Not my favorite category of call, but I got a few. My all time favorite and one that I will cherish is one hand made by Winky Hinks of Grove Hill, AL. It is his Sweet Wild Hen model and I stood there...

RE: just startin need help

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to realize that. My mentor in the sport advised me to call a little and sit alot, and that is how I hunted for the first part of my career. Then I fell for...

RE: Rabbit/ Coon Hound

I think you will find it hard to get a dog that can do both very well. Beagles make great rabbit dogs but very few have enough tree instinct to tree coon. I have owned a couple beagles that would...

RE: just startin need help

You got a couple good calls there. I have the ol" betsy and I really like the smooth mellow tones of this call. The diamond yelper is another good one even though I prefer their stacked frame calls....

RE: head shot vs body shot

Body shpts are a definite NO NO. The feathers are similar to chain mail armor. If you want to penetrate those feathers you need #4 buckshot or larger. The head shot properly done is a beautiful thing...

RE: QB mini boat paddle

Got one and that is the way they are supposed to sound. Not my go to call but on windy days it is the one to reach for. That high pitch seems to cut through the wind. I like to wander the ridges and...

RE: Mouth call secrets

One thing about mouth calls. Not all calls are made the same, neither are all mouths. You may have to try different ones to get a good fit. If you have a high palate (the shape of the roof of your...
