Oklahoma Antelope

I'm no amateur to deer hunting, but I have drawn a once in a lifetime antelope tag in Oklahoma's Cimarron county. Know little to nothing about pronghorns. Any advice or direction would be much...

Can't argue that. I have had a fine Encore ML for six yrs and have been more pleased with it than others before. However, for six yrs I have been perusing catalogs and considering other bbls but...

RE: Having trouble with 11-87 firing

Take your bolt and firing pin out again. Clean and degrease thoroughly again. Do not apply oil or grease to your firing pin. I've seen countless misfires in cold weather from oil on a pin. Roll the...

RE: Let's discuss Bullet Penetration

I can believe this. Velocity being the key, not necessarily caliber. From my own experience on 1/2" steel at 300 meters using a 30-06 versus a .300 RUM with same bullet (Nosler BT) the '06 left...

RE: 1911 - How do you carry

Actually, what prevents this more than anything is the firing pin block present on Series 80 and subsequent Colts and most any 1911 made in the last couple of decades or so. Hence the third safety,...

No. Sounds like you are probably packing in to these places and carrying 1 dozen Super Mags are a pita. You can easily carry 2 1/2 to 3 dozen standard water keel in a good bag (like Cabelas floating...

RE: 185 vs 230

185 gr. in short bbls for reliable expansion and function, 230 gr. in full size models. Need to keep the velocity up in your compact models. Same rule of thumb goes for other auto chamberings. e.g....

RE: 300 RUM

Yes, absolutely. I have seen deer shot with a .308 that didn't know they were dead. However, just the sound of a .300 RUM round being chambered is enough to drop one in its tracks.;)

Two model 700s that I load for love 95 gr. RL25 behind 180 gr. Nosler BT. Chronographs 3300 fps from 26 in. bbl.

Most accurate load I have found for them.

RE: haydels dr-85?

The DR-85 is one of the easiest calls to blow. Try growling "hut" instead of "vut". If it doesn't sound well with little effort I'd say you had a bad Haydel call.
