Here's my load. Took me two years off and on to finally dial in my Sako 75. Tried many bullets, powders and primers. Along with different seating depths.
Barnes XBT 168
RL 25 - 96 grains
Fed 215 Gold Medal Primer
Mine are seated 13/0000 off the lands.
Taken two cow elk and two bulls including the one in the pic last year. Never retrieved a bullet. They punch holes. Including one cow at 280 yards shot right between the uterus and the A hole that exited dead center in the front of the chest.

Does the 300 RUM killanimals deader than the 308 Win? My 300 Weatherby didn't.Of course its a toy compared to the RUM.

IMO if anyone is a shooter that can handle the recoil , then YES the 300 RUM is a better choice.I have shot a lot of deer with both cartridge's. And the 300 RUM will put them down harder, and faster. Tom.

308== Bang, Flop
300 RUM = Flop, Bang. ?
How much faster than instant can dead get?
Never mind, didn't mean to steal the thread.

I am glad to see the 300 RUM has such a good following.I am looking forward to a long relationship with this new gun.I prefer to archery hunt but when I use a gun I like to shootlong range to add to the challenge.

I mad that i cant get the speed out of the 180 accubond yet. It performs great though.One ofbest shooting bullets yet other then the lrb j-36 but they were to expensive so I canned that idea shortly after. I to hijacked bigcountrys load still using it. With the little slower velocitysthey hold together and perform perfectly.

Interesting that some of you are shooting 165s in this gun. My gun likes the 165 tsx with a max charge of RL25. How much flatter is this bullet than the 180 and will it hold up over long range as well? Thanks for input. I too am a believer in the 165 TSX. Convince me of its worth in this cartridge.
