I would start off by dragging around a carolina rigged worm or a grub on a leadhead.
Then depending how active they are I would maybe go to a rattle trap.

For my baitcasting i use 10 stren easy cast
And for my flippin stick I use 17lb Pline green

That setup works great for me.

Went out on saturday,Water temp upper 40' s.Nice day sunny and around 57 degrees I was fishing a little dropoff that went from about 12 to 16 ft.

I dont think you have to be real close to the fish.I have not relly tested the range, all I do is just drop it down and then kinda drag it around untill I see fish.
