I agree with wvdeerhunter. I think they most definitely work. I also believe that if a deer was right below you the deer would hear you but if the deer is 50yds or more I think you could get away...

My Nikon Monarch ATB' s have the twist up eye pieces and I think they are great!
I had the same problem and ended up going with these binocs because of it. BTW, they are great binocs.
