Today, the dnr got their ears pinned down by the jcrar, rightfully so. They voted for the 2 gallon limit instead of 10 and unlimited feed piles as wanted by the DNR and the NRB. The dept. whined...

Brian & TJD, You both make some great points. I do believe if we broke down the antlerless kill by sex, we would have a better handle on the size and structure of our herd.

Nick, you' re right. I think the only way to support a 23 day season might be - With a traditional opener and after the 1st 9 days there is a point restriction so the bucks aren' t overharvested...

Nothing in this release says anything about testing these deer, just that they will be picked up once a week.
Also, it states that about 8,000 deer have been taken to date, in this area. 5 years...

Unit specific not state specific. The DNR doesn't care if hunters go in half the units and use all the tags because all they want is dead deer. Like Bill Mytton said to me," Who cares, they all eat...

We are doing our best to have them stopped. They aren't necessary as we've proven the last 2 years. Only about 10% of the harvest has been during tzones. Just give us the tags,Unit specific tags.

You just gotta love the propaganda--Successful antlerless hunt reduces number of tzones for 2002. Kill was down 30%, but man it was successful !!! The herd dropped from 1.65mil to 1.53mil to 1.5mil...
