Default Wi gun deer season to be extended...

I just heard a news bit on the local news that there is a bill trying to extend gun deer season from 9 to 23 days? This is the first I heard of this, anyone else know more? I don' t know if I like that idea! It will be voted on in April and if passes the change will take place this season! wow! [X(]That sucks, I like the late season bowhunt![:@]

Boy, how many times does a proposal like this have to get shot down when it' s voted on to die ???? They just keep bringing this monster back up and it keeps dieing after all the votes are tallied !!!

Just like school referendums sspriz, they never seem to go away until they pass. Leave the season alone!!!! 9 days is fine.

This is, unfortunately, another example of the DNR' s linear way of thinking. " If there is an average of X number of deer shot per day, then if we add 15 days to the season, we will then have 15X number of deer killed." Problems are: 1) about 1/2 half of the harvest occurs in the first three days of the season, 2) most hunters won' t hunt more than 9 days anyway, and 3) the deer will be virtually impossible to see, much less shoot, after two weeks of gun hunting.

If they enact it, so be it. I just don' t think we' ll get anything in the way of an increased harvest.

Deerslayer- Do you know if they are going to have special hunts in the CWD areas again this summer?

What would be ideal would have a second or late season gun! After late season bow, say around Jan. 4th - 17th! This way we don' t lose out on bow and have to where blaze orange in the tree! Deer will simmer down a bit...maybe! JMO.
