djd,
I started taking mine to a guy in Georgetown, K&J Custom Deer Cutting,Jim Marvel at 302-856-6943. He works during day so need to call after 5-6pm. If you drive down and catch him at home he will give you a walk thru of operation. You can drop deer off 24/7. He accepts donated deer under Buckmaster/State program. You must however have the deer gutted. Believe it or not, he's had guys call to see if he would gut donated deer.
I go down via RT 1 south, make right at RT 16 light and 1st road on rt (pepper rd). 1st or 2nd house on rt,sign out front. He has a 1st class operation.

Another guy you might try for donations is D&J Custom Cutting in Hartly. RT 8 west bound,on Myers Drive. Dwayne Nickerson,302-492-0323.

Went out Sat am/pm. About 30 minutes before dark, nice size 6-8" spike strolled around stand(within 20yrds). Obviously I let him walk. He came from state land. If nobody Waks him in Jan he'll be a decent buck next year.

Thanks AJ, I have used D&J before but living in Harrington ....thats a little more of a drive thru town than I like. I HATE driving thru Dover. City drving sucks! Maybe I go out and drill a doe for the hungry, this is the first year I have not donated. I think I might have to "donate" a hunting spot to DUCK....hahaha. I saw 3 big does in the field this morn coming home from work...guess they are moving in the morings too. Still kinda hard to get the drive to sit in a stand and freeze my ding ding knowing I cant shoot any bucks though. Cant wait till Jan season to take my son and wife back out.I still got a monster 10 piont roamin around my woods. Be great if one of um gets him!!![8D]

After hunting for 25 years, i've officially become a charity case!
Oh well, its frustrating sometimes, but I'd rather be out hunting than anything else. I'll start the DE December Archery thread next week! Good Luck and Happy holidays to all!

djd,
If your in Harrington, you might look up K&J custom cutting. RT 14 to Milford, hit RT1 south to RT16 Light and your there. About 25 minutes for you unless you can cut across country. I'm in Milford, takes me 20 minutes. Just seeing his operation is worth the trip.

Went out tonight to try and score a "donation' deer. Saw 6 ...a spike, 2 buttons and 3 doe. Only 60-lb r's so I didnt shoot any of them. Had to sit in my stand well after dark to wait for them to go away. It sure was silent in the woods tonight. Figure we will start seeing buck bachleor groups in the next few days with it getting cold. The does have already grouped up.
Good luck everyone..hope ya'll had a good x-mas!

I decided to hunt geese on Xmas Eve instead of deer. That was just as productive as the deer season has been
It was the right decision though because the people who have the goose lease at the deer place were there that morning. No use deer hunting with all that comotion going on. I did get some corn out and collected the Trail Cam.
There were some nice deer on the Cam and some nice does Pictured while the sun was still up. A nice buck, the thickest antlers I've ever seen was caught on film on evening about 5 mins after legal. He'd shed one side of his rack, but if he didnt he'd be a real nice 8pt. Hope he makes it until next year!
I'm having some trouble with my bow so I'm going to take it to the shop tomorrow AM. The winds suppose to howl tomorrow so i'll probably hit the woods Tuesday. Hoping things pick up soon. As Gene Hart used to say.. Times a wastin....
Keep on them guys, while its still cold. Suppose to warm up later in the week. Good Luck all!
