Did anyone else venture out today? My dad and I arrived at the leased place this afternoon just as it stopped raining. Were set up by 3pm. I really thought with the rain ending and the temp dropping that the deer would move early, but all was quiet.
Saw no hunters on the surrounding farms and heard very little shooting. It always seems like this is just not a very popular season. It's like if you cant shoot a Buck, people arent interested. Oh well, I'm not picky. More open time in the woods for me!
The weathers suppose to get nice and cold this week. I'm hoping things pick up!

they were calling in a gun. they did that for years in the augustine are(silver run). they now chain in off during the off season....that's smart. u should do that at a range...not in a place where a missed shot could kill someone 3ooyds off. people do not think...they really dont.

Made it out today. I couldnt get away from work as early as I'd like and it cost me. Got to the stand at 3:30pm. Spooked 2 deer that were in the field to the west. They plowed back to the bedding area tails waving. Had one go by at 4:45pm that I heard but never saw. At 5pm had a large doe working the opposite side of the woods along the same field, but legal time expired before she could move my way. Oh well. Why should today be any different than the rest of the season??

Snuck out this afternoon for a hunt. Got there plenty early. Dumped some fresh corn and was still on stand by 2:15pm. Didnt matter because I saw and heard nothing. No deer related shooting at any the surrounding farms either. Pretty discouraging. [:'(]
If things work out, i'll try Saturday morning. After that, its back to bow season!

Yep - went out Sat am/pm jumped 1 deer at day break going in. Out tues & today pm. Nuttin - everything is moving in morning. Typical post rut and gunning season blues. Bagged 6 so far this year,so can't complain. Have 4 in freezer. Want one more and the rest go to charity.

Seriously, i'm glad someone is killing them. My one private field and other public area's have just not been productive this year. Thats the way it goes sometimes. There's still a month and a 1/2 left. It ain't over to the fat doe sings!

Keep at it Duck....
AJ where you donating at? All the butchers around me are not participating this year. I always donate 2 deer but with no place to take them I have not shot anything lately.
