There have been times that the deer had been quartering toward me, moving, etc. I have been shooting since I have been big enough to hold a weapon and I shoot often. I shoot my bow all year round and same goes for the gun. I take pride in my accuracy and with the rifle (when target shooting) I practice at 200 to 300 yds plus, not that I will ever likelyshoot that far in Pa but it makes the closer shots easier. Don't want to wound deer where few deer are to be found. If I saw so many deer I would have never started this thread. I wouldn't have any reason to express discontent over the management of Pa's deer population.

but i did see over 50 cars with hunters riding roads with kids ,ready to shoot out the windows.
yes, in-line season is putting a huge hurt on the deer in oct.
i wonder what a in-line acts like when shot out of car window?
does truck fill up with smoke?

Not much inline pressure in our part of 2F
Just spent 2 1/2 days in and around ANF territory in 2F and saw three seniors with high powers but no inline guys except our group of 4. We have one with a peg leg and one with a bad heart so we did short hop drives along easy level areas near the roads and didn't run into a single othermuzzy hunter.
We put out deer on half the drives but two of the shot opportunities were bucks and two more shot opportunities weren't taken because the foliage made it tough to be certain that those deer weren't packing horns too.
A good hunt, no kills but plenty of sightingsand plenty of signin an area thats supposed to have no deer if you listen to the crowd at the local tavern.
The best buck we saw was an 8 point that probably went 105"-110"
The wind noise allowed me to walk up to within 15 yards of him while he fed.

I see the humor in your statement, and I am not seeing what BTBowhunter is.
However, I was in Ohio for the first week and a half of their archery season. I had seen shooter buck mid 120's and up. Passed up 2 in the mid 120's. I saw numerous buck every day but did not come home with any meat. I still consider that a good hunt, shooting a 150" buck would have made it great. There are buck of this class there and I will be going back in Nov for 2 weeks (if necessary). I enjoy eating venison and the freezer is running low so I will be bringing a doe or 2 home with me next time but I don't have to kill a deer in order for me to have a good time. I just need to see deer and I am not seeing many here in PA.

The fact that you would ask that question is indeed very sad. Obviously you are only in it for the kill and not the whole experience. We had lots of activity, we saw plentyof deer. We just didn't happen to close the deal mostly because we were very cautious not to shoot unless we were absolutely sure the deer was a doe.
Of course, you and your crowd boasted of shooting 5 out of 6 button bucks a while back so I guessI shouldn't expect you to understand that a successful hunt is about the HUNT.

Sounds like a nice hunt. I'm glad to see your group looks before shooting. I'm sure most true hunters do as well. I rate my hunts the same way you do....there was game seen, opportunities that just did not end up with a kill......but it was enjoyable and it's called hunting. Good deal.

Thats the way our gang looks at it! We are not exactly strangers to the concept of bringing home the venison. It just doesn't HAVE to happen every time we go out.

Is simply a very good example of the kind of hunter that the sport would truly be better off without. Period. If some think that's harsh, so be it. That kind of mentality, although I beleive it is not representative of the majority of hunters, does little more than provide useful fodder for the PETA crowd. Our enemies would always point out a worst example and Bluebird happily provides it for them.
Apparently you have a hard time dealing with the fact that words have meaning. When one is successful it means that they accomplished their goal,not that they had a good time failing.When I go hunting the primary goal is to harvest a deer and although I certainly enjoy the challenge of the hunt I do not consider it to be a successful hunt unless I fill a tag.
If you have a different definition of success that's fine with me. Some guys always wear rose colored glasses and try to put lipstick on a pig.
