Avalanche,
The Leaf River uses a CF "compact flash" memory card. I believe the Cuddeback uses the same but am not 100% sure.
Strut,
My Leaf River gets around 2 months battery life. Don't use rechargeables, they don't last in trail cameras. I'm not sure how many pictures I've gotten on one set of batteries but I'd guess around 1,000.
I couldn't be happier with my Leaf River. I'd recommend it to anyone, I'll try to post some pictures sometime.

YES, the LR's use the same CF Cards that the Cuddebacks do.
BATTERY LIFE is exceptional with the Leaf River units. You WILL get 2 to 3 1/2 months of FULL battery life!
I get my Leaf Rivers from my buddy Mike Kruger. The best buy you'll find WITH FREE shippings. Not to mention, Mike is just a great guy and as good as they come. He'd love to help ya. Here is his link.

Careful with the recomendation to not use rechargeable batteries in the digitals. I've been useing the rechargeable AA's in my EagleEye for eight months now and have had great success. It depends on the camera and the batteries. The Sony P41 likes them.
It's also looking like there is a correlation between cost and picture quality through the four that I have used. Probably not a surprise.

Since Trail Cameras and accessories are my business I will reply to this thread. Though their are many choices out there there are only a few quality units available. If you want picture quality and battery performance you should build your own see here Build your own Camera There is also a contest to win a top of the line digital Trail camera...........
A CCD style camera is the way to go, especially in cold weather. As for your Cuddebacks,Stealths and Leaf River. They use Cmoss cams and suffer greatly in cold weather and are costly on batteries.
Just my 2 cents

MY Leaf River units are actually the DC-2 models with the LCD screens but I don't really see the need to buy them over the non-screen models. I have an older Nikon Coolpix cam that uses the CF Cards so I just pop out my Memory Cards and check 'em out in my Nikon when I want a viewer, it let's me pan and zoom. I always just switch out the CF Cards so a deleting feature like you mentioned isn't really that important when a Card goes home with me anyway.
