Hey
I wanted to hear some of the best groups you guys have pulled off using the ultra/handi rifles. I believe I have a real shooter, and was curious to hear some of the better groups shot. It seems to be either people will get a shooter, or a lemon. I had shot a .78 3 shot one time and never was able to replicate it, although I've shot a few right under 1 inch, and serveral just right around that. I have a Ultra sb2 in .243.
Thanks for any replies

MIKE,
SOUNDS LIKE YOU'VE GOT A "GOOD ONE", I'VE NEVER GOTTEN BETTER THAN ABOUT 1 1/2. THEY AREN'T INTENDED AS TACK DRIVERS BUT I'D SURE HANG ON TO THAT ONE. I'D STICK WITH WHATEVER AMMO YOU WERE USING. BUY A CASE AND DON'T TRY ANYTHING ELSE. CONGRATS ON GETTING A "GOOD ONE."

I have had 2, A .204 and a .22-.250, neither would shoot a 3" group at a 100 yards and I gave them a good trading. I would still like to have one but I want it to group.

Tomorrow I'll get a pic of one of my sub 1 MOA groups. I don't have the target, but I do have that particular wood board I used as a target holder. It really is weird, I'm using those 13$ winchester powerpoints, kinda pathetic I've only less then 60 shots through this gun, and I've never used any high quality ammo due to lack of money. Anyhow I'll have to try out some better ammo sometime.
I know James B has plenty of handi rifles, So I'd like to see how his do.

I can consistently shoot sub MOA groups at 100yds with my Handi-Rifle in .223. It didn't come that way, though.
I got the forearm away from the barrel....then had the trigger lightened....then searched like hell for ammo that worked with this gun. I settled on the Black Hills 55gr V-Max bullets.
When I first bought it and ran my first couple of boxes of $3.99 Winchester ammo through it and got 4-5" groups at 100yds, I was ready to get rid of the gun. Now it'll outshoot my Ruger #1B.

I couldn't seem to get my Handi .223 to shoot any better than 1.5 to 2 inch groups at 100 yards until I did these simple things:
1) I found the ammo it liked (American eagle .223 50 gr. JHP).
2) I moved the front rest to be underneath the receiver as much as possible.
3) I made a conscience effort to follow through on the trigger pull.
4) I used better support at the butt stock.
Now, I am shooting groups that fit within a 1 inch square at 100 yards. Not to bad in my book for a factory rifle/scope combination that cost less than $300.

I have eight Handi rifles. They all shoot pretty good with the right ammo. First off the Handi rifles will Almost always shoot much better with the lightest bullets for caliber. The 223 will shoot best with 40- 45 grain bullets. Regardless of caliber the lighter bullets will nearly always do their best with light bullets. An O ring between the stock and barrel on the forend hanger stud to sort of free float the barrel will almost always improve accuracy. With it chosen loads ALL of my handi rifles will shoot 1 1/2 or better. Thet take some tinkering around sometimes but seldom will you find one that won't deliever pretty good hunting accuracy. For 200 dollars or a little more, they are all I could ever expect. It will bring home dinner if you do your part.
