Age and Accuracy

RE: Age and Accuracy
I am not an old man by far but I have noticed a decrease in my potential for accuracy with what I have always considered my "typical setup". I have found that I need to make modifications either to the equipment I am using or need to keep forgiveness more into consideration when buying new equipment.
Getting old isn't fun.

RE: Age and Accuracy
I'm 53 and what I have noticed most is that I have to work more diligently on conditioning. For example, I can't hold the string back as long unless I put a lot more work into conditioning my upper body. I still pull a 70# bow, but I can see that these days are numbered. This decline in physical ability, i'm sure, also must effect accuracy. Although I am still very aware of my limitations, I am not sure that accuracy has deteriorated to a material extent, yet.

I'm not as accurate as I once was but I'm as accurate once as I ever was. But seriously, I shoot far less as I once did but make the practices more important.... I don't shoot the competition I once shot and after my accomplishments in 3D, it's all about hunting for me now....is it an age thing? For the most part....no doubt.

RE: Age and Accuracy
At nearly 54 my vision is not as sharp as it once was. Though I'm still a pretty good archer I can feel my accuracy slipping. That's with regard to target shooting. With regard to deer though I think I might be a bit better than when I was younger. I'm more confident and calm during the shot. Guess at least for now, experience is making up for declining physical prowess.
