Torontohunter, are you referring to Jeff Murray's moon guide,or someone elses? I have purchased his in the past as well as one put out by Prime Times.I did see some correlation between rising and setting sun's and rising and setting moons, they proponents of the use of these suggest if you can have two of these things occurring at approximately the same time the effect is much greater.I do believe this is true and have witnessed it in the activity of deer and turkeys while hunting and their activity in the fields by my home.Charles Alsheimer has also written extensively about it.
I heed those things and I also watch the weather very aggressively, significant changes in barometric pressure, fronts coming in and going out.All of this leads to more productive hunting.

Yes, the Jeff Murray one. I was just curious to know if anyone has had any good results.
I'm looking forward to using it and wanted to hear what other people had to say about it.

i think barometric pressure has a big influence. i use to buy the moon guide every year but after a while i figured out if i have time off im going to the woods regardless if the moon guide says its a good day to go or not. i also realized after buying the guide a couple years and comparing predictions that according to the moon guide they always indicated 5 days after a full moon was the most active time to hunt and for a couple days after that . i dont believe this totally because 2 years ago on the day of the full moon in november i seen like 4 bucks in a half hour. the most ive ever seen at once in a short time. i think of it as a hunters farmers almanac and thats about it

I've been toting the solunar charts from espn.com in my daypack for some time now.

I guess there's a correlation, but usually in the areas where I hunt, deer activity levels are driven by so many intangibles it makes the chart pretty useless.

Last fall, however, I cashed in on a nice 9-point that I probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

Here's the story:
The moon was in the full phase, and was underfoot (peak activity on that particular day) at 4:30. I had been setting up at the edge of a cornfield and seeing all my deer at dusk (7:00). I had one day that week to skip out of work a bit early so I took a chance because it was nice out, and It was the last day of the week that I could hunt peak solunar time.

Well, at 4:00 I was in my stand, and at 4:25 two nice racks came moping out into the field - 2 hours ahead of schedule. The bigger one fed by and I got a deer that I would never have gotten without my trusty ESPN.com chart. Best of all - it's free on their website

If nothing else, it gives you a tangible reason to stay in your stand for one, two, three extra hours and it gives you a ray of hope on a day when you can't seem to see anything. Sometimes, 11 a.m. rolls around and you want to stretch your legs and come back at 4, even though you know you should stay. If peak time falls at 2:00, it gives you a reason to be there, keeping your nose on the grindstone.
