When I saaw the name labman, I thought of a white coat. I know what that makes me, but try this on for size.
If you make conclusions without anything to base it on, then you are an uneducated fool! Whether it's personal rationalization, or education that gives you experience to make assumptions based on what one reads.
Why are you so quick to disrespect people? Why are you so fast in throwing race into the debate?(and don't say you didn't, do the words colored human being ring a bell?)
In part of you first post it seems like you're talking out your mouth and butt at the same time. You said we "...need to step back and wear the shoes of both...etrhical scrutinization must be mandated..." One doesn't need to walk a mile in others shoes to tell who has higher ethics levels. When you take a shot that is at an unknown distance,hoping to get a deer, only 'cause it has a big rack, you just threw your ethics out with the trash.
Go ahead and criticize me, call me names, whatever.

Duhhh, evidently you don't like wearing Pennyloafers either. That's the shoes you said we should try on(wear the other guys shoes) What does color have to do with it? Where did that come from? I don't care if you're black, orange, green or white.... I still disagree with you. The lab man drinking his samples is a "funny". Lighten up a little. The little smiley face is suppose to tip you off. Maybe this will work better. That doesn't mean I'm making a pass at you... it says.( yada yada yada) or drrrrrruuummmmmmmmmmm boom(drum roll) Chill chill

Lab-Man - Awe, maybe you're right. Next time I see a big buck walking through heavy brush at 35 yards, I'm slinging an arrow towards it. Heck, maybe I'll even hit it, and get lucky and it'll die and I'll find its carcasss a day or two later, and then enter it into the Books, have articles written about me, make a lot of money , and I'll just fall back on the "You wasn't there" or "I made a bad judgement call" lines.

Look, this world needs a lot more stand up and take repsonsibility, and Zaft needs to do the same. He made a poor shot and lost a trophy animal. He's not an example any of us should follow as far as that hunt was concerned. Zaft KNOWS deer, he's killed a couple of P&Y bucks. He knew the size of this animal, he knew he had one shot and a poor one at that and he made the decision to take that poor shot, knowing his chances were NOT good at making it. Boys, thats unethical, thats doing the wrong thing when no ones looking (like the one guy has in his signature). Worst part is, a lot of people are going to give credit where credit is NOT due.

Lab-Man - I always gave Rompolla a benefit of a doubt. This Zaft deer is different, because we know his story, and we all full well know he didn't take a good shot and he didn't recover the deer he wounded. Do I accept this ? I accept that sometimes things happen, but what I don't accept, and won't accept, is a guy getting world recognition for taking a very poor shot when he knew better and wouldn't have on a smaller deer, losing the animal because he took that poor shot and then after a local gives the rack back to him after the meats ruined and the coyotes have eaten it, he tries to pass it off as an ethical kill ? I don't think so, I'm going to teach my kids better than that ....

Maybe we are getting back to the "sel-promotion" thing again. How many of us would of taken that shot that day? I am not for sure if I would have or not. Even though I have passed up shots on numerous occasions, I haven't had a buck of that magnitude step out in front of me either. But, I do know this, I would not portray myself as some "great" hunter as Zaft has. I'm sure there would be several articles written about this if I were to have (or have not) harvested this buck, and I see nothing wrong with someone making money off of a trophy. Several hunters have done this, but with the exception of one or two, have done it in a relatively dignified manner. I don't even consider the Rompola buck for anything but a hoax, but with the Zaft buck, I may or may not doubt that he shot it, but I don't agree with the "promoted" point of which he is trying to make about himself. I think someone who does this feat may want to try to be absolutely possitive about the whole scenario before one would go talking about acts of greatness. Maybe this is a good learning lesson for all of us as to what to do or not to do, if (I hope) this happens to one of us. I think alot more highly of the people on this post and hope for the same in return.

And my opinion on the race comment;

One of my best friends is black. As he states, he is not an African-American, he is an American. He was born in the same town as I was. He hates it when any nationality is attached to someone just to be "politicaly correct". I look at him as a friend as he looks at me the same way, and not thru colored lenses.
