Because I don't consider them to be. At least the ones you are referring too.

You know the funny part of this is....it's already a done deal in many states and more will follow without a doubt.

It's like some old timer wanting women to stay at home and cook and have babies and not be able to vote....Sorry to say but we ain't going back so may as well adapt.

Holy cow, are you despondent about everything in life? Do you never stand on any principles you believe in, because it seems hopeless? I am not.

I did take a stand unless you are totally blind....why would I be despondent...I won. You didn't so you are eating sour grapes and continue to be a sore loser.

You need to embrace your xbow brethren and openly welcome them to you bosoms.

1. Do they or do they not meet every definition of archery equipment? Please post something, other than your opinion, that says different.
The definition of a bow varies from state to state regulations on game and fish and how they're written. However, crossbows are steeped in archery history, they've been "bows" far longer than compounds and per m-w.com, two limbs generating the energy that proels an arrow .... that's a bow

2. Are crossbows, having their origins some 2400 years ago, primitive weapons? Remember that compounds are primitive weapons in most states that have an actual "primitive weapons" season.
again, "primitive" rules and regs can change every year. Maryland found that out along with many other states and more to come.

3. Are your traditions my traditions and are my traditions your traditions? I hope not.
traditions are irrelevant, the G&F of your state decides what's legal in what seasons and what isn't, and hopefully they're making their decisions based on good solid facts and maximizing hunting opportunities with minimal impact to the herds

4. Are hunter numbers declining across the country or not?
they are overall, I'm not sure on bowhunting numbers though

I use to be an anti-crossbows, foaming at the mouth zealot too until someone asked me what reasons I had to base that on.

In other words, you are telling me other states will follow so I should just accept it. Your advise is just to lay over. Who didn't fight any sort of fight to get arrowguns legalized. I am asking do you just give up and lay down in every part of your life?

I look at it like I look at an ak47 assault rifle. Legal to own....legal to hunt with in some places, fun to shoot, but I wouldn’t want to own one. They are gaining in popularity just like crossbows are. Several years ago the only crossbows available around here were a few low end models that stayed hung up on the store shelves gathering dust. Now there are $1500 units all over the place and people are gobbling them up. Same as the black plastic gangsta guns. I went to a great sporting goods shop near my deer camp last year to check out what they had for guns. In the past there were usually some nice bargains there and they did a great hunting gun business. I went in and the gun racks were full of everything black plastic. Hardly any hunting stuff there but they had all kinds of military looking stuff. What a shame. So this sudden interest in crossbows is not going to go away and we might as well accept it for what it is….just like the military rifle craze. I am too old and set in my ways to change at this point.
