Yea ,that 's a story of mine from last season ,darn little branch got in the way LOL
Really I do believe you and really It did happen to me last season on a decent 8point buck , I was so sure of a perfect shot and it was right near the end of the evening . I swore I had hit him ,but I did notice that he just ran off into the wood's on a trot with his tail straight in the air ,and that's not how a wounded deer react's, we looked for him ,but being as dark as it was opted to return in the morning. Wereturned in the morning and found my arrow on the ground ,[ no blood]and then backtracked to where I was shooting, only to find a severed branchabout 1/8" laying on the ground right in my shooting lane, didn't see it the night before because of the low light ,but yes it was there and that's my reasoning for my miss . Just keep at it and good thing's will change for you ,Hopefully it was a clean miss .

Live and learn. You will be filling those tags in no time. I hit a barbed wife fence once. Sounds just like what you mentioned. I saw a doe about 20 yards in front of me. I draw and make what I expected to be and easy shot. I hear a loud twang and the deer looks back in my direction and trots off with her tail in the air.
You mentined the deer hunched up? The arrow might have been diverted a bit, but it sounds like your arrow is stuck in that deer. Not sure, but from what you have said, she probably ran with it in her. If it has been cool, you still might find her and she still be good. If not, you will get the next one. Good luck.

One thing that concerns me is you stated she hunched up. Your arrow may have deflected and got her in the paunch. Deer will usually "hunch" up and walk off when hit in this area. That could also explain the lack of blood.
I would definitely try to find that arrow. If she has been hit in the guts she will be dead. Just gotta find that first clue.

Gut shot animals hunch up alot, better go back out there and make sure and look some more! They don't always bleed alot so you better make sure!
