They might look a little beat up after10 or 11 feet of snow in the winter but they bounce right back. Right on Atlasman.[8D][/blockquote]

AMEN
Funny that is what UP guys said to 350,000+ deer in the winter of 95 and 96 when they all straved to death, but they looked healthy[&:] If you ask any hunter things were great

I'm honest and forthcoming about my desires for management of the herd.................I want nice big bucks to put on my wall and look at while I'm watching hunting shows in the off-season and dreaming about the next season. If you have a problem with that then poo-poo on you.

That is excellent and exactly what I would love to start seeing and hearing more often. If that's what you want then just say so.............why all these guys feel like they have to mask this desire in a cloak of nobility is beyond me.

Just be honest............very simple. Don't someone in the eye and tell them you want a "healthier herd" when they know all you REALLY want are more big racked bucks to shoot.

TDM/QDM's greatest flaw IMO...........and it will always hold them back.

I want both. I really do. If they work hand in hand....so be it.....but should I apologize for the latter because it's a by-product of the former?

You made the statement not me, prove it. We all know you can not

Nor can you prove yours

The tag system were more fair to rabbits atlas.
Really???...........you can fill your bag limit full of males every day. I can only shoot 2 bucks a year (bow + gun).

When I shoot a bunny I have to roll it over to see what I shot.
Exactly............you could shoot piles of males but no one seems to care about that. Why do you think that is?? Shouldn't we be just as concerned that too many young male rabbits are being killed?

Or before he even has the chance to become the alpha male. What about making the 1.5 bucks carry the load? By natures design they were not suppose to be main breeders.

Same end result..................only some schlep doesn't have a wall mount.

Is baiting legal in NY?

No

Whydo you have this pressing need, to explain what you do, to the troglodytes?
I don't...........you misread. It is the other way around.

So if there is a "them" there must be an "us" What do the Us's want?
Nothing............other then to left alone and be able to hunt in peace.

Again... "us" vs "them"...What are "our" motives?

I don't know what they are..............what SHOULD they be??? The preservation of hunting and passing on this great tradition to the kids of today.

Nothing else matters.

There are no "easy" slammer bucks no matter where you live.
I didn't use the word "easy"

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the word "harvest," as in "we must harvest x amount of
deer to maintain a healthy herd balance." It's like we are all involved in some elaborate
tightly controlled expirement. [&:]

Exactly

Why and I agree with Atlas here, the guys that are in the woods know what is there. I think DEC and DNR need to do a better job of working with hunters.

Understatement of the century.

We are talking what has led to MI issues, in the past poor tag system. 1985-1996 you could shoot 2 bucks with a gun and two with a bow. You had to apply for doe tag everywhere. See why the herd crashed in the Northern part and UP[&:]
Now it's two(gun or bow).I would like to see it be one.

Nor can you prove yours
Who made the statement you, back it up with data please

Dr. Gary Alt is one, because they ran the guy out of PA before he could hunt, LOL I know at least 6 guys in the UP they deer where they hunt do not get big. I can show you 3.5 shot in Iron Moutain. No bigger than your buck last year.

Same end result..................only some schlep doesn't have a wall mount.
Like yours?

All your comments are based on fear of changed. I have confedence in you Atlas. If NY changes I think you will be even more succesful One bad thing will come about, you may have to spend more money on mounts[:-]
