Are you folks really that serious about this contest?
No.

I SIMPLY posed the question to get the pulse of the forum.

Thre's more joking that goes on (and more kudos/atta-boys/congrats/etc...) than you'd ever imagine. Everybody is rooting for everyone....I recall having a WONDERFUL time with it, last year.

It is NOT "serious"...but it IS "competitive" (in a light manner). There's nothing wrong with that.

I am on Team 17 and I see no problem with instituting a doe score. I don't speak for the whole team or anything, but it makes no real difference to me. I leave it up to the powers that be at HNI. Either way it will be another fun contest with plenty of trash talking and back patting.

YES IT WILL, huntingson. Either way. It's the posts where ANYONE puts up declaring they've "Scored" for their team that I look forward to each and every morning. This would just mean more of them.

Why not make it one or the other? You are allowed to enter one deer. That way no one gets skunked if they choose to take a doe. I don't agree with different points for different sized does based on weight/age, etc. We have a hard enough time getting deer scored somewhat correctly. Makes me no difference one way or another, but I don't like the idea of one guy killing 10 does to pad stats on one team. Just my 2 cents.
Yes BBM those are some good points

Enter a doe or Buck, does areworth 25 points.

LittleChief I willsay yes the contest matters to most including me. I had a great time and I will be very happy to see 9 other teammates from
Iowa, Kansas, Canada, Ohio, ILLand 1 guy from Idaho

I am not saying to change it, just good discussion in the off season

GMMAT,
The question wasn't directed at you. Your opening question was a simple one and, personally, I think you have a great idea. The question was directed more at those who seem to be firmly opposed to the idea. It is labeled as a "Deer Hunting Contest", right?
Of course there's nothing wrong with competition. We're all competitive to some extent. I'd love to shoot a 3D tournament someday soon, and I'd probably enjoy being in this contest. I was just curious about how strongly some people felt about this. For me, when a competition turns serious, it's no longer an enjoyable experience. Again, that's just my opinion. There's absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying serious competition either. It's just not for me. That's why I asked.

With the new doe regulations this year that is probably possible. On the plus side, the deer here don't get within 20.5 yards and I know you won't shoot past 20[8D]Sorry about your luck.

I am entering my caribou this year anyway. That's a deer right?

Germ,
I don't blame you. Teammates in those locations would definitely up your chances at winning. I'll only be hunting in Northeast Arkansas, Southeast Missouri and West Tennessee. Not much here to competewith those locations.

I really hope you guys aren't mis-understanding me. Anytime you're in a contest, it should mean something to you. I've seen lots of guys, however, who take it to the extreme, and to me, that can be a bad thing.
Personally, I'd like to be a part of this contest, 'cause IKNOW I'm killing deer this year. Where are the rules, anyway?
