I thought to enter a deer in the contest, you had to measure the antlers and then enter the amount of inches recorded. How do you enter does into this contest???? Unless they have antlers.

We tally the scores in inches of antler to determine a winner. How will a doe help the score. Most have no antlers!!!!!

I know we need to harvest does, and I take a few every year. Some years I don't take a buck. But this contest is for bucks or I guess antlered does. The scoring system requires a deers score be entered in inches. I think it would be wrong to give does a standard # of points to enter. Every buck is different, most will score different. But all does would score the same? Just doesn't seem right.

Iknow our team, last year, made a BIG push to keep people BOWHUNTING even during the gun seasons......putting MAJOR emphasis on getting a BOW buck that would help the team. It's a BOWhunting contest. It SHOULD take precedence....if you signed up.
Exactly, and that is what they and everyone else was doing, bowhunting for an antleredwhitetail so it could be scored in inches for the contests scoring system. Does don't have inches..... As JM said.... If all whitetail bucks are not scored equally for the contest how can all antlerless deer be scored equal? In your ownwords "Fair Question?"

Maintaining the integrity and NOT diminishing the accomplishments of TEAM 17 is extremely important in my eyes. You guys had a great season......and if I thought this gave a team an unfair advantage over you.....I would state that.
Are you not the one who was pouting "level the playing field"???????

You come in and play for one year and want to change the FOUNDATION that the contest was based on..... Of course it will ruffle some of our feathers (mine)who have grew along with the contest.

I say if you want a doe contest have at it, but leave our contest that was good enough for everyone else for the past three years alone.

Why does a person have to kill a buck to contribute to the team??? Ok, the score, yes, but contributing to the team is SOOOOOOO much more than that, isn't it??

Yes, there is more to contribution to the teams than just scoring. Our Capt. mauser06 was one of our biggest contributors even though he didn't tag a buck. We all kept up. It's about comoradorie, building friendships and coming together as hunters and members. The taking of the game was secondary to all the fun we were suppose to have, which I did (the fun). I also made exceptional friends.

It's time to stop bickering over an issue that isn't in place. Wait til the sign up has taken place and perhaps have a poll at that time. Time to let this one die guys. No one is solving any issues regardless of sides taken.

Good post mobow.
