I can see both sides of the arguement. For what its worth, i think adding a doe would only help the contest. I didnt have any problems with how the contest is ran, but like it was mentioned before, does are a serious part of the hunting equation and taking one with a bow is an accomplishment. Why not count them? Jeff like you said, we certainly have alot of time between now and the season to make the decision.

Have I missed something in the last few years?

Big Buck Contest?

I thought it was the HNI Bowhunting Contest?

Not being a smart ass, I'm honestly curious.
Sticky at the top of the forum says "Deer Hunting Contest".

The "Big Buck" is a side contest.

I'm talking about the Deer Hunting Contest. The "Big Buck" side contest is self-explanatory.
That was my understanding as well, Jeff.

Just making sure I was correct in my thinking.
This contest was made as a spin off of the "Moderators Cup" after "Arctic"left the forum which was abig buck contest. This new contest idea got a lot of interest so it was decided to make teams as well.

BTW Wolfen68 won big buck in 2004,dabowhunter won in 2005 and lady forge won in 2006.

The individual results took a back seat (for good reason) to the teams because it was so much fun. Call me old fashion or whatever, I just like it the way it is.

I honestly don't want any hard feelings, buckeye.......and I understand the hesitance to change what isn't broken. Contrary to what you might think....I was merely feeling the pulse of the forum during the slow off-season.

My fear,now,........would be that guys would place LESS importance on the taking of an antlered buck. I DO NOT want that to occur, at all. Period.

"I" feel like.....if we make the points lower.....that might not occur.

Iknow our team, last year, made a BIG push to keep people BOWHUNTING even during the gun seasons......putting MAJOR emphasis on getting a BOW buck that would help the team. It's a BOWhunting contest. It SHOULD take precedence....if you signed up.

Maintaining the integrity and NOT diminishing the accomplishments of TEAM 17 is extremely important in my eyes. You guys had a great season......and if I thought this gave a team an unfair advantage over you.....I would state that.

I just think that adding does in the mix would make it.....Easier I guess
Mobo

Is it that we are so hung up on bucks?

If the contest came down to two teams, one guy from team Ashoots a 3.5 year old doe and the otherguy from team B shoots a 1.5 fork.
The doe pushes team A to a Victory.

Is Team A win less of a win because of a doe? There are no wrong anwers this is just for debate only.

From what I understand, you can now get as many extra anterless tags in the three "regions" of Ohio as you could get total last year. Meaning in zone C you can now get 3 extra antlerless tags, in zone B two, and in zone A 1.

You must have money coming out of your ears. I currently don't have two pennies to rub together to heat my home during the chilly nights. Bills, bills, and caribou hunts can really take it to you[8D]Thanks for the compliment BTW. Probably not as big as yours, but I'm used to that[8D]

No trap at all, and no worries if anyone feels that way.

Hell I might feel that way[8D] I think it shows the importance we still(me too) put on those antlers.

Germ, to answer that plainly, no. I couldn't really think of the right words to use in that post...... Maybe prestigious is the right word......

Let's keep in mind here that I have NEVER killed a buck w/ archery tackle, but I shoot several does a year. So maybe I look at it from the challenging side of things, and winning a contest solely on horn, to me anyway, would mean much more.

I don't intend anything negatively for the folks that don't feel that way, I'm just sayin.....

Mobo

I like "prestigious" word.

Like I said no wrong anwers, I am just curious as to why some want to do it, and why some do not.
