Mind drivel.......Bowhunting contest

Well, don't take it as gospel from me that there's a new bowtech on the line if Team 17 repeats. I just remembered reading a post about it a while back. For all I know, he may have been joking, or I may have misinterpreted it.
Either way though, there is a nice littleprize package, and it's been very successful at the status-quo.

What is the issue with allowing does?
Does anyone think if a team wins because of a doe it "lessons" their win?

I'm not one to participate in deer-hunting contests, but what would be wrong with allowing 1 'bonus' doe per hunter? Isn't that taught in responsible deer management?(not that I really get all that excited about the management concept)
Some guys may only get one tag, sorry for your luck. Should the rules also be altered to 'even out' the field for the guys hunting pressured public ground to the guys hunting prime-time spots? Are guys really that concerned over an internet contest that they don't want to shoot a doe at the risk of spooking a 'winning' buck?
My vote probably wont count anyway as I don't play along, but I'd say yes on does.

I propose the current contest's name be changed to "HNI Bowhunting Buck Contest". As the contest is for fun it also had a lot of discussion which involved introducing some team members to passing on small bucks. I think we could find some members are blanked because they refused to take a small buck and therefore had none to enter.
If anyone wishes to have a separate doe contest, I am in favor of it, though I may not enter it. Use the body weight for score. It would be on the honor system correct, just as scoring a buck is? Call it HNI bowhunting doe contest.
Just my opinion.

I think that the issue with last year's chamion is a VERY valid point.....but I'm not sure how it affects anything.....since a doe is a doe is a doe and they're readily available to anyone with a tag for one. If they all count the same....there could be NO unfair advantage gained by any team or team member.
This is OUR (forum members) contest......and Rob is simply kind enough to oversee it (and these are words from HIS mouth, not mine).
I ABSOLUTELY promise I have no interest in stirring the pot on this. I'm asking what people think about it. There have been VERY valid points FOR ....AND AGAINST. If there's ANY wayIthought last year's champions would be unfairly representedby this....I'd say ditch it. They had a helluva year. Kudos.

It just changes the rules, that's all.
Imagine if you were Bill Polian, the GM the Indianapolis Colts, and you assembled a super-bowl winning team in 2006, and were returning all 52 players for 2007 - you are the odds-on Vegas favorite to repeat.
Now, imagine ifRoger Goodell stepped to the podium on August 1, 2007 and said "this year, we're changing some things, we're eliminating the audible, and Field Goals are now worth2 points instead of 3. Sacks will also be worth 2 points each."
You can bet that you'regonna put your hand up and say "Hey, what gives?"

I guess this is where we differ, Quick.
Put me on a level playing field with my competition and I figure I have nothing to complain about. Your analogy is a little different.....in that some teams have invested in and have acquired kickers that they put a lot of stock in (ditto sack masters).
Still.....it's 11 men on 11 men. That's "fair" to me.
I'm ONLY putting it out there for discussion. I have NO influence on what happens in this forum. None.

I really need to interject a question. Please don't take this the wrong way, either.
Are you folks really that serious about this contest?
I'm not familiar with the rules at all, and hadn't bothered to search them out yet. I was under the impression that this contest was intended to be fun. If it's a serious contest, then I don't belong in it for the same reason I don't participate in Bass Tournaments. I don't like taking what I love to do and adding the stress of serious competition. It just takes something away in my opinion. 'Course, that's just me. Some people thrive on competition, and that's great for them. I just like to enjoy myself and have a good time. The only serious competition I want in relation to hunting is between myself and the animal I'm hunting.

As I recall as of two years ago the 2 point conversion was not there. So NFL doeschanges rules.
Some good points
1 tag states is the biggest issue to me.

Why not make it one or the other? You are allowed to enter one deer. That way no one gets skunked if they choose to take a doe. I don't agree with different points for different sized does based on weight/age, etc. We have a hard enough time getting deer scored somewhat correctly. Makes me no difference one way or another, but I don't like the idea of one guy killing 10 does to pad stats on one team. Just my 2 cents.
