I primarily hunt very small trackes of land, sometimes smaller than five acres, and a largetract ofWeyerhouser owned land that totals over 400,000 acress. So far this year I have: Hunted 14 times on the small private land and seen 1 fawn, and 9 days on the timber land and saw 2 smaller bucks. Ipassed onthe rawn and shot the 2 small bucks-a spike and a spike with a small kickerpoint. Like most people I'd love to shoot a monster, but the reality is thatif I pass on1 or 2 deer the odds are I won't see another one.Not to mention I think there is something about only trophy hunting that causes one to miss a wonderful aspect of hunting.

Personally, I hunt with bow and gun. I shoot mature bucks and does. I just finished with 4 straight weeks of vacation. I hunted 30 days straight. I've been doing it for 15 years. I wonder what wonderful aspect of hunting that I might be missing. I feel pretty good though!

Sounds good to me Germ, but it's all about Justin, whose Justine? lol

Even the part of drinking beer with Jeff's wife, (Jeff don't read that part)

I'll see if I can find my score sheet but hell, everyone thought mine should be bigger, not smaller..LOL

I could list the ones I want to see broken down but I won't.
I will model it of P & Y, I will get started in Jan. I have ideas I will call you later this week!!

Sorry Justin, my bad

Wow, I just hope you have a lot more vacation time to spend with you wife and kids. Assuming you have a wife and/or kids of course.

I gave thelast 20 years I have been hunting, my great uncle hunted the UP. His sons who started hunting in late 70's on the farms. Who knows what they shot back then, they had to eat[8D]
So was I right??........is it 16 in 16 years?

Far less then 1 = you do not know I hope you shoot a monster, it would be priceless
Far less then 1 means far less then 1.........no way there is 1 mature buck for every 640 acres of land.....that is funny. I was hoping to shoot anything.........all I saw was a couple squirrels.

To all the reason I ask was to show Atlas has chosen to hunt his way, because he does not have the time(nor would I ) to hunt mature bucks in his area.
I have all the time I need to do whatever I want.........my choice is not to waste it chasing something that isn't there.

Since your the king of leaving out info in your Quotes here is the full story from ID DNR site
Bucks are physiologically ready to breed at 1 1/2 years of age but may not have the opportunity for several years because older bucks dominate the does. Dominate bucks will mate with several does during a single season and will chase off younger bucks that attempt to breed.
Why would I include that part?........it has nothing to do with anything we are talking about. You said 1 1/2 bucks don't breed..........you are wrong. Now you want to justify it by saying the big boys chase them off. Figure it out dude.........what does no big boys mean??........that's right, the young guys get the chicks.

This season I've had 25 mature buck sightings from 11 different bucks (there'll be more).

There goes the myth that mature bucks are so hard to hunt. Obviously all you need is to have plenty of them around and magically they start appearing as decorations on your wall

I guess those QDM guys are right............just fill the woods with bigger bucks and they will be much easier to kill.

Atlas, you have ZERO experience with mature bucks. Your points are invalid. How could you possibly know? Have you ever seen a mature buck? You, at best, are guessing what it would be like to hunt one. We have both made our choices on what type of deer we hunt. I have twice as many years in the woods as you (40), during that time I have hunted herds ranging from ones like yours to the herds that I hunt today. I worked hard to accuire these spots. Because rule number 1... If you want to hunt for mature bucks, you have to hunt where they live. I did my homework and got what I desired. We are responsible for our own hunting experiences. You seem to just complain about yours and cast stones at mine. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Why don'y you look for a better spot. Don't make excuses, you must not want it bad enough. Please, don't try to be an authority on something that you have Zero experience with.

Then who is that guy hanging out in my living room?

Your points are invalid.
Invalid to you because you can't stand the truth.........what makes your points valid??........because you happened into an area of little to no pressure that is full of big bucks?? Put any guy on this forum in your petting zoo and they would have similar success. Where you lose all credibilty is when you start talking down to people like they are less of hunters because they don't have the dedication you do.

How could you possibly know? Have you ever seen a mature buck?
Seen and shot.......in an area that sees a deer like that maybe once in a blue moon...........not 25 times a year

We have both made our choices on what type of deer we hunt.
No we haven't..........we hunt what is available. You are in a petting zoo with big bucks running all over the place and I am not. If I was in your area I would have a bunch of big deer as well.........and if you hunted my area you would have a bunch of smaller deer.............or none at all.

You seem to just complain about yours and cast stones at mine. Sounds like sour grapes to me. Why don'y you look for a better spot.
Can you please show me where I have complained about my hunting spots...........when you figure out that you can't because I never have and never will you might feel a little silly.

Next time try actually reading the thread...........keeps you from misquoting and looking so foolish

Don't make excuses, you must not want it bad enough.
I fill my tags every year and get to hunt with my family and some of the best friends a guy could have............that's what I want, and that's what I have. Couldn't be happier.
