Here in Illinois any stand must be removed at the end of the day. My ex-brotherinlaw had one either stolen or removed by the DNR.........He was trying to leave it up the entire season. Now I know why he won't ask the local game wardens if they removed his stand.

Someone sitting in your stand should be the least of your concerns if your determined to leave it,doesn't that beat having it taken?I prefer not having to worry about any of that crap. I carry it in and I carry it out, as per the requirements of the law here in my state.
What happens when one of you guys who leavesyour stand in the woods, comes in at first light and finds there is another hunter very close toyour stand? Unless you have a climber, your screwed, or you disrupt the whole areamoving yours, and if I were the other hunter I'd be pissed![>:]
I totally agree with you. Me personally, I always use my climber on public land, but if I did have a hang on on state land I would have absoutely no problem with someone using it while I was not around. I'd even be ok with finding someone in it, as long as he got down without a problem and went somewhere else. So I guess its personal opinion.

this is just my .02, first of all, it is poor ethics that led someone to put a permenant stand on public land, if it is against the law. Secondly, your no better than them if you go use that stand. Forget that you seen them and buy a climber, the day you decide to set in those stands is going to be the day the warden decides to come, guess who gets to buy that tree.

I leave stands up year round on public land. The law is that you do not use screw ins on public land, and I dont!
I would be pissed if someone sat in my stand. It is not yourstand and if you take advantage of other's hard work and prop to sit your lazy a$$ in there stand you are an a$$.

Just my .02 take it or leave it.
