Well to add a bowhunting theme to this gun/political thread I bought 30 of my choice of BH's after the close of season hear for 50 bucks. Thunder heads typically sell 6 for 32 bucks. I call that more than a few bucks and is one of the reasons I use Walmarts sporting goods department, tags is another. They some times have the ammo I use but I typically get that at Gander or Cabela's or Dick's or Dunhams, none of which are locally grown and I don't hear anyone bashing them, hmmmm. My archery equipment is many times on line. I don't buy guns that often and wouldn't miss it if they stopped.

I don't use nor think of Walmart as the go to place for sporting goods (and wonder about the hunter who does), it has many other seconary benifits for the hunter.

I do not like Wal-mart!!! I am even starting to stop shoppingat large sporting goos stores like Gander mountain and the like. The reason? customer severice all the way. And I feel bad for these little stores that are being put out of business because of stores like Walmart. And if you go even to a store like Gander mountain sure they have alot of stuff and the guys there are generally nice and sometimes know alot but I really amd starting to stop shopping there because of these great little stores you never hear about. Just my opinion.

The guns are gone from the store that i shop at also, but when i talked to the guy behind the counter, he said that it is because they were selling a very small percentage of what the stores in other areas are. I don't see how it's a huge deal. From what he said, it was ghetto acting gangsterish kids that were the ones buying guns in there anyway. I'm not so worried about the fact that they don't sell them anymore.

A little story about why i like walmart.....

A few years back we were getting ready for gun season, and were buying a few things last minute. We went to walmart and needed several orange vests because we couldn't find them from the last season. We found out that they were out, and talked to someone to see if there wore more in back or somewhere else. He checked and said that he was indeed out of stock. At that time, a manager came up to us and told us to wait for a minute, he radioed back and someone brought out three of the orange vests that there cart pushers wear while they are in the parking lot. He gave us three vests for free and said that safety was the most important thing. If you ask me, that is not a store that is trying to push some sort of anti gun or anti hunting image.

If they are not going to sell guns in the inner city, which is what the associate told me, thats fine, its business. They are not giving up on guns sales altogether and are probably the most gun friendly of any of the big box retailers..

My dad works for Wal Mart driving a truck so I may be partial to them.I do buy a lot of hunting stuff from them. I have boughta gun from them and would buy another if I needed it. The Wal Mart near me had guns still on Sat. when I was there.

I'm not a walmart basher but I wouldn't buy my gun from there anyway. 1) because they usually don't have the model I want anyway. 2) The one gun I bought there, a blackpowder inline, was such a hassle (mostly due to Federal and Company policies) that I decided it wasn't worth it. I also wouldn't buy my bow there (thread back on track) because I want, and need, the expert advice of a good bowshop. Plus bow selection is non-existent. As far as ammo, clothes, seed, broadheads, STANDS, etc. Walmart is the deal! (but after the season is over with 50%+ mark-downs) I have too many things on my wish list and too little money to play pious with my purchases (HEY, I'M CHEAP). I save my premium purchases for things that count, like guns and bows, and my one mobile stand. I love WalMart and the cheap products they sell. I'm not too thrilled about buying from the Chi-coms but try finding everything you need from non-chinese manufacturers. I can't afford that kind of time and money. I don't hate WalMart for being big, or successful, that's part of the American experience to become as successful as you want and are capable of being. Besides, I remember what it was like BEFORE WalMart, especially after Kmart caved and stopped selling most of their hunting stuff. Buying hunting stuff at Roses (small sizeKmart style storemostly out of business in this state)was REAL tough. (selection of ONE)

My memory isn't what it used to be but it seem's like I remember 2 instances where a gun that they had on display was used for no good, one a guy asked to see a shotgun and proceeded to kill himself and another did the same and robbed the store, plus one of their stores was selling firearms without the proper paperwork or waiting period. Mega- lawsuit's, I'd quit carrying guns too. After reading about how terrible Wal-mart is about hiring practices and such I wonder if any of you people complaining are the ones hiring illegals to do your yard /kitchen or construction work ? Aparrently most of the people complaining haven't had much practical experience owning their own businesses, forget the pie in the sky idealogical attitude and join the real world, money talk's b,s, walk's.

I just called Wal-Mart customer relations and the guy on the other end told me that on March 6th they started to remove firearms from a total of 1000 stores accross the counrty. I asked if this included all hunting equipment and he said it did not at this time. I asked why this was taking place and was told that gun sales were not making enough in these stores to continue their sale.

I buy most of my guns at gun shows and small, local shops. But, I’ve got family that hunt and fish and can’t really afford to shop other places based on their like or dislike of Wal-Mart policy’s. I do buy some of my hunting equipment there after the season when stuff is marked down. I picked up a 15-ft two person tree-stand at Wally-World this past December for $65, a whisker-biscuit for $15, a $200 Nikon scope for $90 and there ammo is the cheapest in town. If they stopped selling equipment for hunting, fishing, camping, boating and such that would really suck for folks that don’t make much money and can’t really afford to go any place else.

You should have asked which ones as the drive maybe worth it. Hello Walmart shoppers now in the sporting goods department...
How many stores are there anyways? May put a different spin on it. And where these stores are may as well.

Yep, would be a shame. All the firearms companies are fighting off legal issues and I'm sure this has something to do with it, which means the root of this problem is not a walmart issue. There just reacting. The problem is much bigger and it would take a miracle to reverse the damage that freedom has suffered, people can't even turn off their TV’s, one of freedoms biggest opponents. A poison that is killing this country slowly but surely. The poor always pay the price, and even though they are also the ones with the least to loose, what they do have means so much to them.
