Me either, but it's fun busting the chops of the inline boys.

btw Living out west has nothing to do with using a traditional ML. Take notice of where I live. Colorado has more timber than open area. You just have to hunt it. It's more work, and most hunters take the easy way.

muz·zle·load·er [muhz-uhl-loh-der] noun
a firearm that is loaded through the muzzle.

Sorry but smokeless would fall into that definition.

Caplock users say inlines aren't real MLs
Flintlock users say Caplocks aren't real MLs
Matchlock users say Flintlocks aren't real MLs

I have to laugh when hunters get mad/annoyed that there are tools which allow hunters to spend more time in the woods. I guess to them that's a bad thing and damaging to the sport?...

I'm glad Colorado thinks the same as me, and not you.

I have to laugh too.

Well, I enjoy all the guns I have including the cartridge guns, I don't have a smokeless muzzleloader because I don't want one. What bothers me is the fact that if we don't hang together then the anti- gun people will hang us separately.

Wow someone doesnt like smokeless! I shoot/hunt with smokeless (nula) now. Do u know what my average shot is? Under 40 yards which I dont even need a gun for I could just use my bow. I hunt thick mountain laurel and even in a treestand I'm lucky to see past 50 yards much less be able to pick spots to shoot through at that distance. I also have used sidelocks, whites/gonics for shooting those big heavy conicals at a whopping 1500 fps.

So what it really all boils down is I still pour my powder down the barrel, load my bullet from the muzzle, and primed my charge. And guess what? They all have a trigger that you pull to make them go boom so there is no difference really other than cleaning and speed (which dont help me one bit as stated above).

Tinkering with muzzleloaders is by far what I love to do the most no matter the type with archery a really close second. And Bob, in the very near future when Im in CO chasing those elk with my Gonic please dont look down on me for not using a flintlock

A few years ago my Dad was looking to get me a muzzel loader for christmas and I hinted at a traditional style. He called Traditions and had a 20-30 min conversation with the rep and ordered two inlines, one for me and the other to my step brother. After getting the scope close to sighting in (I ran out of time at the range) I took it off and put the open sight back on. But I will probably switch to a peep sight next year. Especially if I am unable to buy a sidelock by next season.

Without the scope it feels more friendly, but I still want a hammer on the side. Reacently a Jaeger caught my eye. So that might be one of my gaols to work towards.

I believe Lemoyne and Muley are correct. Maybe the spirit of ML hunting is getting lost but in any event we should all stick together regardless of what our choice is.
Here in PA, we still have what is designated a primitive season which opens up the day after Christmas and runs thru most of January. Regs are flintlock ignition only, bore .44 cal or larger, and open (buckhorn type) sights. There is an early ML season in Mid-October (tomorrow actually) where you can use any type ML with a .44 cal or larger bore or a ML pistol of .50 or larger.
I personally enjoy the primitive season. You rarely see any other hunters. Probably because the weather is cold, lots of snow sometimes and biting winds.
And honestly I believe some of the states have allowed the use of these MLs just to reduce the herds. What I do get a kick out of is areas where you can only use a ML or shotgun? Well Duh, One of the modern inlines or slug guns have quite an effective range as compared to the older trad. MLs and your std everyday shotgun shooting slugs.

Its a riot getting the buckskinners all skeered about using the ORIGINAL bp sub. Current subs were not even invented until nearly 100 years later but using them is totally ok. Total hypocrisy and as usual...a narrow vision of how they feel things should be for EVERYONE in EVERY state. LMFAO

We have more restrictive lottery type hunts on some of the reserves and thats great IMO. I see no reason to impose restrictions on our ML season since its LAST. I WILL be using one of my SMLs during that time just because it bugs Muley.

MD, btw i guess you missed the videos of me shooting BH209 in my NULA. 130gr and a 325gr FTX will knock the snot out of nearly any game.

Personally I feel the whatever you choose is OK with me. There is no right or wrong in what a person chooses to use. The only difference is legal or illegal. If its legal to use, be my guest. I don't care if its a matchlock or electronic ignition!
I prefer the sidelocks because I like them. I like their feel and their simplicity.
