Well I'm seeing your point guys, I really am, that one is definately up for debate then. I see both sides of the picture and to be honest, it's very difficult.....I'll take more information on that one. Just good logic please.
I quoted that one. The best thing is to be fair to everyone and I think you all know that's what we try to do and be. I'd hate to handicap anyone but at the same time, single state tags are already handicapped, it just makes everyone exactly even by saying if you shoot a buck, your done....doesn't it?

Hey Please don't flame me for asking this......but if you enter a bowhunting contest.....why would you go out with another type weapon until you've filled your buck tag with the bow?
I only bowhunt....and I might not understand.....but it's an honest question.

I like your first bow kill period.
IF you shoot one with a gun, who cares? We start trying to make it fair by state where do we stop? Private VS public? Location VS location
First bow buck is fair to me IMO, if you are in an OBR and you take one with a gun, it's your choice

We enforced this last year after being "easy" on it in the past. Many members here said, RULES ARE RULES and they were right. One reason this one became pretty strict. I apologize to the members this year who...ooopsed and forgot the bow. Ryan, my7point...great bucks regardless, way to go. Congrats to both of you. However, the past dictates this year. We learned how necessary it was this year to actually have this rule.

I must have some sort of creditablitiy even though i cant spell big words to save my life. Anyhow its a good rule and it should be enforced, it was my dumb fault for forgetting my dang bow in all the hustle and bustle high fives and telling the story of the one that got away, i forgot all about the contest, even after i got home i was still on an adrenaline ride from hell so i forgot the deer got cut up and now its at the taxi.Anyhow im sorry you had to make this post in the first place and i wish you all good luck with the rest of this year into next year i hope i get some dang bonus tags next year so i dont have to quit so soon!! Sorry all this went down how it did for you Rob. Anyhow,
Good Luck To Everyone And Wack a big one.
Ryan.
EDIT: I forgot to mention my Buck scored 43 7/8.
Just think i almost had a heart attack when i shot him imagine if i break 100 inches? I hope i see a bigger buck next year. My 8 Point monster..... wasnt a monster but to me hes the best thing that ever happened to me. Ohh im willing to bet my 7 point monster prolly only scores about 40 inches. My 7 point monster is a sarcastic thing, my first ever buck was this 7 point, and it happened to be the first thing i ever stuck with a bow, pretty cool combo. Anyhow im rambling on and on and im EDITING!!! i need to get a life.

Ok, my apologies, I didn't read that clearly the first time.....
Ok...here's my thought....Justin, I understand perfectly what you mean....Actually, until I read your post I was really confused as to why in the world it would matter.
Are there any states in which a bow is not a legal method during the firearms season? I ask because I honestly don't know. You're right....."Adam" only gets 1 buck tag in his state, PERIOD. Once he shoots a buck, he's done. Mobow gets 3 buck tags per year, 2 on his archery tag and 1 on his firearms tag...(that's not made up, btw).....
Adam tries to get it done w/ a bow, but doesn't. So he goes out w/ his trusty shotgun and gets it done. Can't enter it in the contest. That's nobodies fault, not even mobow's.....This is an archery contest. What a guy does w/ his firearm, IMHO, should be inconsequential to the contest. Adam don't have a buck tag anymore.....Bummer. He can't help his team, which is unfortunate, but why should it matter?
What about the folks that go on guided hunts every year? Adam can afford to, so he goes down to the 170 inch ranch in Texas and shoots his contest buck, which happens to be a 196 inch 14 pointer. How is that fair to mobow who can't afford a guided hunt? Everyone here knows beyond any shadow of any doubt Adam's chances of killing a very high scoring buck are 90% more likely than mobow, just because that's why he paid for the hunt in the first place. I guess it's POSSIBLE that mobow could kill one that big, but come on....
Guys, please believe me I'm not being rebellious, and I'm in no way shape or form arguing. I'm merely discussing. Like I said in a post the other evening, you can make some of the people happy some of the time, but not all of the people happy all of the time. And sometimes, mobow is the one who isn't happy, and that's ok.

We can't bowhunt during the shotgun season in IL, and I for one still haven't killed a buck with my bow. I did kill a buck with the shotty during the first season....but I don't understand why I couldn't still hunt with the bow and enter one in the contest. Doesn't change the fact that I still have 2 bow tags to fill and almost 2 months to hunt. I'm not trying to argue, just curious as to why.
