Plateau on Clover
Has anyone used Plateau herbicide on a clover plot. It is labeled for it at a low rate(<4oz/acre I believe). If it wouldn't damage the clover, I would think it would be a lot more effective than Poast because of its residual effect as well as broadleaf control. Anyone tried it firsthand?

RE: Plateau on Clover
Just found Plateau on the web. Put out by BASF. Their description says that it is used to remove grasses, AND removal of legumes. In that case, it will KILL the clover. It seems to have the charistics of Roundup. I don't think it would be a good choice.

RE: Plateau on Clover
Plateau is considerably different than Roundup in that it is selective and it has a residual effect. We use it a lot to kill fescue in native warm season grass stands (Big Bluestem, Little Bluestem, Indiangrass). If you read down the label far enough, it shows that it can be applied post emergent to white clover and pre and post emergent on crimson clover at 4oz or less per acre. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this first hand and if so, was it effective? Did it stunt the clover? I have seen what it can do to fescue in a tank mix with Roundup and it is pretty impressive.

I found it earlier today on the list; page 9 of 16. It may work OK in an older plot, but might retard growth on a new plot or seeding. I think I'm gonna wait for someone else to experiment with it and judge from their results. From the looks of it, it is darn potent.
