I am starting to hate my climber for starters its to darn heavy. I am about worn out be the time I get to the woods. Also I feel its makes to much noice, and I dont have much room to shoot my bow. Does anyone else have any of these problems? I dont want to have to buy a bunch of hang-ons and ladders that would be to costly.

You must have an older model treestand huh? My climber is light, can carry it in and out no problem. Though I have to agree with you they can be noisey setting up. Thats why I get to my tree about an hour before sun up.

I love climbers, went many years without one and finally purhcased a cheap ($89) Hunters View 10 point stand.
Light, never makes a sound, shoulder straps make it easy to carry. Comfortable.
I have two wooden ladder stands (semi-perm) that I hunt out of but you can't beat the
flexibility of my climber for moving arond where the deer sign is.
My climber is A O.K. !!

I'm not a big fan of climbers either--but for different reasons. I've owned several and currently have an ol'man vision that I use primarily for all-day hunts. My chief complaints are:
1.) the noise made getting them attached to the tree,
2.) the ridiculous angle that you must start with so that (hopefully) it will be level when you reach hunting altitude,
3.) the only trees you can use are telephone type trees with little or no screening branches,
4.) you must climb all the way down -- and then all the way back up if for any reason you need to get down -- this also applies to leaving the stand overnight, and
5.) knowing that it can occassionally slide down the tree quicker than you want on slick trees.
For these reasons, I save it just for the all-day sits where my comfort in my fixed position stands won't allow me to stay there.

Sorry about your previous experience with climbers. Like MT, I purchased an API (now owned by BassPro) and love my Extreme Magnum. Weighs about 23 lbs (aluminum) and is well thought out. I attached a scabbard and climb up the tree, rifle attached (unloaded of course). For years, talked myself out of it, but I am glad I use one now.
I do have several ladder stand including a two man ladder stand. I like them as well, but to get into the thickest brush, the climber beats hauling the heavy ladder stands around. Good luck this season.

i'd like to add that even 10 lbs. of weight on your back is alot to carry when wearing multipule layers of clothing, i know what you mean, your already sweating when you raech the tree. aside from that i don't think a fixed stand has much if any more shooting room. as for noise, setting up a ladder stand doesn't seem to be much quieter unless you leave it there which isn't an option for me but probably is for others. one thing that keeps me using mine as opposed to noise is this: 2 years ago all i had was a homemade ladder stand taht i put up with a screw gun 20 min. later a buck came in , didn't get him, but he sure wasn't spooked by the noise, 3 hours later moved it to a differnet tree, again 20 min. later i had deer but no shot, moved it to the other side of the same tree again with a screw gun had 8 pt. come in got him.point is i don't worry alot about some noise when setting up
