In Oklahoma it is illegal to use feeders when hunting deer
Only illegal to shoot turkeys within 100 yards of bait, its perfectly legal for deer here Mod70 the picture only 1/2 loaded for me but i see the top of therack and it looks to be a dandy of an Oklahoman buck!

edit:Ok it loaded all the way that time, nice buck. What part of the state are you in mod70, Northeastern here.

Do they offer the choice on all those hunting computer games to hunt over bait?

The first one that came out had you looking for sign. The way hunting should be.

I used to be against the idea of baiting deer untill I moved to Texas.

In east texas most of the hunting woods are pine thickets with dense under growth and a person needs every advantage they can get. Other wise you would never see the deer moving in amongst the pine.

Back home in the Show Me State the areas that I hunted were hard wood forest' s with dense canopy' s and very little under growth allowing you to see. Not to mention the ability to set up over a natural " acorn" baiting station.

I can say that I have been on both sides of the fence and can relate to both.

Mod70,
I was working off old info. I went through high school and college in Oklahoma. I am sure that when I was in high school it was illegal, but that was nearly 20 years ago. I assumed it was still illegal because nobody I hunt with in Oklahoma uses them.

Thanks for the information.

Loanstarhunter, it is good to hear from someone who has experienced both sides of the baiting issue!
Most people that are totally against baiting, live and hunt in areas that have natural bait, and they have no idea of what East Tex hunting is!
Where I hunt, there are no " crops" for miles in any direction!
For me the idea of baiting, is to stop deer in my shooting lanes, not to " lure" them in!
When I hear people talk of " attracting" or " luring" deer in, or " bait piles," I know that they don' t even know what they are talking about!
Because #1. you can' t " lure" East Tex deer very far! You can' t put up a feeder just anywhere and expect to see the deer come running to it! Unless they would be starving to death, ET deer will not change their movements to come to feed!
#2. Deer do not like bait " piles!" Pile up some corn and it will sour! About all you will see are a few hogs. So bait " piles" spook deer, not attract them!
All this said, if baiting is legal in your area, you have a choice, if it is illegal you don' t!
