In NJ they recently passed Sunday bow hunting, but it is still illegal to hunt with a firearm on Sunday. This works great for bow hunting on or near popular pheasant hunting WMA's because you don't have pheasent hunters walking around under your tree stand. The Sunday bow hunting is only on private land and DFW controled WMA's. Other state land and federal land still doesn't allow Sunday bow hunting.

Deppedy Dogg-- Since there has been a hunting season in Pa. there has been a basic no hunting on Sunday law. There is some limited hunting on Sunday and trapping is legal on Sunday, but these events are low profile and have little impact on the rest of the population. There goes the "Bible thumper" argument. You can't tell me that trapping is not more unpopular than hunting in any state. "Stick together guys" are always trying to change something to benefit a small group of people. You can always hunt in another state if you don't like the laws in yours. I have and do hunt in other states because I think antler restrictions are a stupid way to manage deer. It shows what kind of people "Stick together guys " are when somebody outside their click tries to change something. Rifle hunters against bowhunters / longbow hunters against compound hunters/ compound hunters against crossbow hunters / crossbow hunters against inline hunters and it goes on and on. The law has basicly been that way since there have been game laws in Pa. We don't need any outsiders or nubbee hunters telling us how to hunt in Pa.

If a state has enough hunters to hunt six days, instead of seven, and get a decent harvest, the state can survive with a six day harvest.
Some states have too many hunters and a Sunday hunting day might only restrict a season, and make it shorter.
Some states with fewer hunters must open it up and get what hunters are available out hunting.
Every state is different. It is not a question of what is fair to the individual hunter. It's a question of how many deer can be harvested in that state.

Im a Virginia resident and we are not allowed to hunt on Sundays here. We pay so much for the lisences that we should be able to hunt all days of the week. The prices keep going up on lisences each year. You SHOULD be able to hunt on Sundays if you want. Most people are only off on the weekends and after paying a lot to hunt 1 day may make some hunters quit hunting. Im a Christian so i understand Sundays are a day of rest but the same law that keeps you from hunting on Sunday doesnt keep you from working on the day you are suppose to rest. I know that a Deer is one of gods creatures, but isnt a Fish one to? And you can fish on sunday! I think the ban on Sunday hunting should be lifted in all of the states that still have it. If you are a Virginia resident and have not yet signed this petition please do, the more Hunters the better. Also get your family to sign it to. I got it off a group on Facebook and it has spreaded like a Wildfire. Ive also put it on this forum in the South part and the Whitetail deer hunting section. All you have to do is fill in the blanks, and it will be sent to the Governor and some of the others high up. http://www.capwiz.com/nssf/issues/al...502501&type=ML

Valentine, I don't know what state you are in, but in Pa. the Game Commission could care less about herd balance. Watch these Forums and you see more and more complaints about seeing less deer in a bunch of different states. In Pa., Game laws are pretty much dictated by revenue generated and the practice is starting to spread.

Plum.... Just who are you speaking for when you say, "we"?
I would submit that you have less influence than say, State Wildlife Biologists in mandating Sunday Hunting. You state, we don't need outsiders.... but I think outsiders DO have an influence and that influence benefits your state coffers.
