I don't think they are RUBS per ssay at all. Just 20'from food plot 9n a grove of small hardwood we saw 3 rubs. They were within 6' of each other and were on 1" saplings, not the avg and so close together. We think what is happening is the deer are trying to rid themselves of their horns. We found one set in that 1 acre field side by side as though the droped off as he was feeding. When the snow is gone we will search the 50 acre field and try the zig zag search method.

I find the most in the thickest crap I can find. The bedding areas. Bucks probably spend most of their time bedded, so look there. Fields are good, too, as they are feeding areas. If those rubs are territorial, the deer still have a little testosterone. Therefore, the antlers aren't coming off that day.

Afew people said they zigzag to cover more ground .I've never tried the zigzag thing, but the single biggest mistakeI see peoplemake is walk way to fast.It is so easy to step over or walk right past antlers. Its not a race dont be in a hurry.I bet you will find a few more sheds .

I'll agree that it's easy to go too fast. I think a person is better off going slow and being thorough in a goodarea than going fast just to cover ground, I just wonder how many sheds ive walked past or over just because I was walking too fast. Like said before, it's not a race, walk slow and enjoy the time outside, finding a shed is just a bonus.
