shed hunting near rubs?
i have seen some new rubs this late in the season. why do bucks rub this late? is it good to look for sheds near these rubs?

in some of my reading i've found that late season rubs are often bucks marking their territory as they begin returning to their home range after the rut. They want the other deer in the area to know that they've returned and that it is their terriroty so they make these late season rubs. Intuititvely, looking for sheds near the newest rubs obviously makes sense, but I'll let some of the other guys help ya more on that one

Looking for sheds around the new rubs you have just found sounds like a good plan. Just dont expect to talk up to the rub and find two antlers laying beside the tree. The fact that a buck has returned to the area and isagain marking his terriory tells you what? That you are in his territory. So, that should increase your chances of finding some sheds.

Sure they're new? Shed hunting suggestion....I hear cruising zig zagging a field produces lots of sheds.

you zigzag to cover a lot more territory in less time. The more ground you cover the more you will find!

Take your binocs with you too. And go when its sunny.. they stick out a lot better then.
