RE: What's Your Best Scent Reducing Methods
Last year I did some tests on this subject using my dog. He finds me every time, but seems to have the most trouble when I've used nothing as far as sprays on my clothes. My suggestion is wash your body with scent free soap. Use scent free deodorant. Never allow yourself to sweat. Wash your clothes in nothing but water and hang them out side, preferably near your hunting area. Use rubber boots that are kept in dirt and leaves. Pay close attention to the wind and touch nothing with your hands. If hunting in a stand, get off the ground fast.
The season that I got busted the most was the year I started using all the scent killer sprays and other crap like that. Take the lid off of anything you’re about to use and smell it. They may get rid of your scent? But they also have their own, which doesn’t smell anything like the woods.
Everything in the woods smells like the woods, so leave your clothes in the woods!

I know someone who has patented a system the will remove all scent from clothes. The device is the size of a small toolbox and will work AC or DC. The guy took a really smelly onoin and wiped it on my hand, then turned the device and and it blew air over my hand for 10 seconds and all of the smell was gone. He then did the same with cologne.
It was pretty neat. It may be hitting the market this year.
It will work on any type of clothes.

Saw this on a another board:
OK, here's a recipe I read in the Feb. issue of Traditional Bowhunter magazine, author is Ron Rohrbaugh from upstate New York. He swears by it. He doesn't explain why use the hydrogen peroxide, but I'm sure there's a chemical reason.
* One gallon plastic jug.
- 16 oz. of 3% Hyd. Peroxide (<$1),
- 16 oz. distilled water (.25 @ $1/gal),
- 1/4 cup baking soda (.25 per box),
- 1 oz. unscented liquid soap ($???)-(I'll use Scent Killer bath soap),
Mix all ingredients except soap in the jug, shake well to dissolve baking soda. Allow mixture to settle for a few minutes, then add soap. Gently mix but don't foam up the mixture. Pour into your pump spray bottle and use on skin, clothing, boots, gear, etc...
This recipe makes one quart.

It has been a great eye opener to hear all of your ideas. I am definatly going to use some this season. I
I have another question for you all. When done for the day, what do you do with your clothes? Undoubtably you perspirate during the day even a little. DO you put your clothes back in the bag and let your scent remain of them? Or are there other ideas. Thanks again for your insight. -AJK

no doubt that deer have an incredible sence of smell but you dont need to go over board and waste a lot of $$$. all i do is buy some unscented laundry detergent, and store my gear in its own toat in the off season. come unting season i just hang everything out on the cloths line for 3-4 days. then just be smart and use the wind to your advantage
