Default deer and treestands

I found this old ladder tree stand it is save to use. It is not very tall it only goes up 10 feet. I was just wondering since it is a ladder stand and is only 10 feet should i use it? I have heard if the deer see the stand just sitting there they will get all spooked. I dont know if that is so true. Also 10 feet that is pretty close to the ground.

If it is old and has been there for a while the deer are probibly used to it. I have killed deer out ladder stands that high before at close range. I do not use them anymore but not because they were not working, I just got climbing stands now. If there looks like deer sign around there use it, it can't hurt. Make sure it is safe before you hunt out of it.

That is exactly what my stand is I've shot many deer off of it. Infact I just shot a nice doe yesterday. I've been useing this stand for 5+ years. The deer walk right up to it without thinking twice. A couple of years back I had a beautiful 12 point buck walk about 20 yards from me never did get a shot though.

As long as it is in good shape and there is sign around I would use it. We have a lot of 10' ladder stands on our lease and have never had any problems with spooking deer.

Before this year, all that I've ever hunted out of were 10' ladder stands. I've never had a problem with deer spooking. If you're still enough they will walk right underneath you.

Nothing wrong with a 10 foot ladder. If deer see you or that ladder moving, they will spook.

I started out using an old Amacker folding 10 foot ladder stand. Took quite a few deer from it over the years. Much, much, much better than standing on the ground. Went to an aluminum climber 'cause it weighs 10 less lbs. to pack in long distances.

While sitting in mine I had a doe eating acorns with her head stuck throught the ladder.Had a wild idea to just jump on her but luckly sanity returned.

Hunting is not a sport,it's a lifestyle.

I use 12' and 16' ladder stands. I have seen plenty of deer out of both sizes. Some have been up all year and some have been moved during the season and it doesn't seem to matter.

Make sure it's sturdy though.
