Stalking
#11
Can't stalk with a bow hmmm I only hunt that way with a gun or bow. I
hunt for the enjoyment of it. I have shot three deer stalking with a bow.
I have only once hunted from a tree stand. My method of choice is stalking and sitting on the ground. Of course I use the camo ( realtree )
and cover scent ( usually red fox ). While stalking and sitting on the
ground proves to be very challenging I find the worst problem is being
to close. When you try and move the deer runs. If you can practice this
method you can get within ten feet of them. I walk as I normally would
when stalking. Taking breaks from time to time to listen. When I feel I am
in a good location I sit on the ground and wait. Using a little cover scent to help me out. Good Luck

I never really tried it until last year, I had to. I was walking back from my tree stand during bow season and I looked across the fence and there were about 7 deer in the weeds just wondering around. I tried to sneak up on them but the crackling leaves under my feet busted me. I couldn't get close enough for a shot. there was a 12 pointer in the group. I was sick over it.
