What is the closest you have ever gotten to a deer by stalking. I am only asking this because I just read that article on the home page of this site. it was a great STORY

I am just having a seriously hard time believing that someone went down a tree with bow in hand/arrow still knocked in a climbing tree stand....... crept to within 8 yards from a trophy class mature buck and shot it dead while it lay in the weeds with a doe 5 yards away.

Got my first deer by still hunting at about 25 yds. I heard something and had my gun up before it came out from behind a bush. Have done a lot of still hunting but mostly just scared em away. I will still try it in heavy rain or wind, but have not had much luck.

if that story is true I give the guy alot of credit for being able to stalk that close. I just don't see it being possible.

25' walking a 4 wheeeler trail, I turned a corner and saw a doe facing towards me with her head down nibbling on weeds. I backed up around the corner and waited for her to feed her way out, after 20mins she hadn't come out so I figured she had winded me and left, I turned the corner and she was standing there, in the same spot. She left pretty quick after making eye contact.

I've gotten to within 10-15 feet of some small forked horn bucks. This was about 5 years ago.
