I have a friend that did the right thing and was rewarded for it.

While out hunting for turkeys here in KS, my friend stumbled accross a wounded deer that looked like it had been shot with an illegal caliber ie .22 or .17 in the hindquarters. (Note: rifle deer season closed last sunday here anyways, so it shouldnt have been shot at) Well, instead of dispatching the deer himself and letting it lay, or killing it and taking it home with him, he contacted the localgame warden. After the warden arrived, which wassoon (it was statehunting land).The warden humanely dispatched the deer and then offeredmy friend a carcass tag so he could take the deer home and clean it himself. Not only did he get to feelgood about not letting an injured animal struggle too long, he did not break the law, and he receiveda deer to bring home for some nice meat.

I just think this is an appropriatestory to sharebecause of all of our ethical debates.

Your friend did a good thing, I commend him! Sounds like he did it right down to the letter of the law, and nothing could, or shouldbe said against that!
I am just not going to wait on finding a warden to dispatch a suffering animal for me! Wardens are sometimes hard to find in our area. Am I going to breaking the law? Technically, yes! Ethically, NO!

It's unfortunate that there seem to be so many
who look for and find a reason (excuse) to to the
wrong (easy) thing and then talk of it as if their
circumstance is special or give the oh so convincing
arguement "kiss my ass" which almost changes my
view of them everytime[8D]. Oh well, as has been said
and implied so many times before, "there's no right or
wrong, only perspective".[:'(][:'(][:'(]

That was a good deed for sure! Game wardens are sometimes hard to come by in my area like Jag stated. So I probably would not have called one.
