This whole discussion made me think of a couple guys I know getting acaribou into the back of a 70s eraBronco - through the back window because the tail gate wouldn't drop. There is NO graceful way of doing this and a comealong won't help.

My truck has slots in the sidewalls to cordon off an area of the bed. I use a 2x6 for this purpose by putting the board in those slots, that's what there there for. Just lower the gate take the 2x6 and lay it on the ground, put the deer on the 2x6 and lift one end to rest on the back of the truck then lift the other end and slide the whole thing into the truck. Now the longer the 2x6 the more leverage you will have when lifting it but I use thisboard in those slots so it's only as long as the bed is wide.

Well I have an 8' section of wooden ladder , just lay it on the ground, roll the deer onto it raise and slip one end on the bed , pickup the other end and slide it in, couldn't be easier.

A nice thick rope can help. Throw a rope over a sturdy tree branch high enough tie 1 end to the deer in the location of your choice tie the other end to your bumper, trailer hitch, ect... drive forward pulling the deer up into the air, if you were smart then you also tied a loop into the rope into the right location then once the deers high enough you use the loop to tie the rope off to a tree then back under and untie your knot and the deer drops into the back of the truck....

If there is a will there is a way. About 10 years ago my grandfather was 75. Mind you he has two hip replacemrnts. He shot a 140 pound buck that took a leap into a ravine. He quartered the buck and grabed a 100 foot rope. Tied the rope to each section of buck looped it around a tree at the top of the ravine and around his waste. As he walked down the ravine the buck went up. Use your head not your back. I was just a phone call away but that was his buck and he was going to get it out himself.

Elk Killer Wannabe... I would agree with Turkey T... I hunt a lot with my younger sister who just so happens to own a very nice chevy blazer and refuses me to even put my hunting clothes in her vehicle let alone a dead and bloody deer... so I went and purchased a cargo holder that mounts into a receiver for a hitch. Wonderful thing because you can also use it to haul extra goodies home from the hunting store...
Good luck and great hunting!

. I take the deer and tie a rope around the head or horns, get into the bed of truck, pull the head and shoulders as high as I can. tie it off to cleat, get out and take back feet and lift them up and tie to the other side. them just get behind the back and just roll it up and over.
I can only lift about 50 lbs. so , if I can do it that way ; anyone can.some times my wife helps hold the rope so I don't have to tie it.
