It will work!!!!! I put up a stand this morning that is only 7'. I do have it on a ridge with an old logging road about 30 yds. below it. I like to be at least 12' up but I have several stands that are around 10' or so. And have taken alot of deer from them. Use it!!!!!!! When you got the extra $$$$$$ get you another one that is higher. Or better yet get you a climbing stand. Good huntin, Scott Woody

I usualy like my stand to be about 15 ft.
You said your low on cash so what I do is build oneout of pressure tretted 2X4 's. theyll last several years. It might not be the best lookin stand but it gets the job done.

Well, take a look at the videos on the Tree Lounge.
You can climb 30-40ft and don't have to worry about
scent or smoking, if you smoke, Also you will have
a better veiw of the area and see deer before the
others do. Try climbing a steel pole with any other
stand and see what happens. Can anyother stand
adjust to 4" tree taper?
I have been using the older style Tree Lounge for
over 10yrs and would'nt trade it for no other!

I like to be in the 18-22ft range but personally i think a treestand serves two main purposes: concealment and better range of vision. This being the case, I dont know how much more concealment you will be getting at 9 ft but anything helps when it comes to improvement on your field of view. This being said, its better than nothing! Its only 9ft but you wont believe how much more you can see.

my opinion is that 15' would be better, but if all you have is a 9' go with it. I have shot deer while sitting on the ground, jsut as my father and grandfathers have done for years. We have had deer walk up to us so close you could touch them, that is at 0', 9 feet will work even better.

For firearm it may be ok but for archery I doubt it. Even in the firearm you diffently want to camoflauge it. You can always raise that stand up with 3/8th carriage bolts ...bolted with4 foot pressure treated 2 x 4s. Pressure treated down here because of our swamps. I was goin gto do that before I bought my Summit. That would only cost ya for about 8 carriage bolts and one 8' 2x4. 15.00? maybe.

even during archery , it can be done....all you need is a a lil background breakup..i use palm fronds, i make a roof if need be and hang on the sides....i'm plenty concealed.... this is me setting up my 7' stand last year.
