Anyone here besides myself stalk deer? its very enjoyable and i have yet to spook a deer. the closest ive got was 15 yards crawling up to one and it started acting spookish so i let it walk off.
I use a burlap Tree Tux and alot of coverscent. has anyone else ever had any luck like this?

I hunt exclusively with a rifle, well sometimes a shotgun with slugs, but most of the time there is no reason for me to stalk closer than 75-80 yards and I am almost always content to take my shot a good bit further out than that. I still find stalking any game animal enjoyable. Stalking is obviously always easiest on a wet leafy floor with plenty of trees and brush as cover, but an open field crawl through shin high grass can be fun too. However, I only stalk close enough to get a good clean shot, I don't showboat.

Great way of hunting IMO. It's one of the truest forms of hunting there are. You against him on his turf. I like to go on a good stalk every now and then (although not on my primary land I hunt
[:-]). Unlike you though I've been busted more times than not. Crafty critters they are.
My philosophy is when you think if you go any slower you're going to start having moss grow on you..................... slow down some more. Always have the wind in your favor, have good backdrop, and soft ground. Most of the time it's still doesn't matter. Nothing like a long stalk and finally creeping your way into bow range.

During the October archery season. The deer come out into a field to feed. I set up on one of the trails leading to the field but they always seem to use different trails. So - I stalk them while they're in the field. I stay back in the woods until I get to the part of the field where they're feeding. Then I approch up to the edge and wait, if I can for one to feed within range. If that doesn't work, there are some bushes in the field which may allow a closer stalk.
