I can't say that I do as I've just recently picked up a bow, however I have still hunted to within 30yrds of a nice buck that didn't know I was their before, but I was carrying a gun.

I think when the conditions are not the best for stand hunting I would stalk. When it is raining, real windy, fresh snow or unseasonably warm the tables turn slightly in the hunters favor. Rain softens the forest floor, windy days cover a lot more noise, and Snow helps you track deer. I guess just get out and try it…

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I don't own a portable stand so the only stand hunting I do is from 1 permanent stand I put up. Otherwise I'm on the ground. Haven't got a deer yet but I've been close enough a couple of times. It's a real rush to ambush them. The ultimate hunting experience. You've got to try it.
