I hunt exclusively with a rifle, well sometimes a shotgun with slugs, but most of the time there is no reason for me to stalk closer than 75-80 yards and I am almost always content to take my shot a good bit further out than that. I still find stalking any game animal enjoyable. Stalking is obviously always easiest on a wet leafy floor with plenty of trees and brush as cover, but an open field crawl through shin high grass can be fun too. However, I only stalk close enough to get a good clean shot, I don't showboat.
